I'm shopping for a new 718 cayman, and the dealer was giving me 8% off. Is this a fair deal?

What has everyone else been getting?

Any input appreciated.

In general I'd say 8% is a good deal. No idea if 718s are getting better tho.

Where in NC are you? I can guarantee you'll get better deals in Hickory than Charlotte.

I'm looking at the 718 as well. Dealer is offering me an ok deal on my 997 trade so I'm considering. Haven't talked numbers yet so it would be nice to know what discounts folks are getting. 8% sounds decent. Is that on the lot or are you ordering?

Update on this info:

I spent a lot of time this weekend shopping for a cayman S and speaking with a couple of dealers. It seems that the 718 is not moving off the lots as well as Porsche envisioned. Therefore, these cars are sitting on the lots for a while. I was originally quoted an 8% discount by my local dealer on a new one, but after sitting down and speaking with him, he gave me the entire 10% off (Invoice is 10% back of MSRP). He will make money on the holdback and doc fee which is plenty.

So, for those like me searching...You should be able to get invoice on these cars (which is 10% back of MSRP).

I haven't pulled the trigger yet as I have another dealership that may outbid the other....

Thanks for sharing this info.. My dealer has a manual base 718 that I'm interested in. I will see how close I can get to that 10%

Just sealed my deal yesterday on a new Black/Black 718 S well equipped. I mentioned this in another post, but this dealership has been sold and is moving. They are very motivated to move their existing inventory. I got mine at invoice.

Call Porsche of Fayetteville at 910-487-0000 if your in the market and ask for Greg Dudak or Robert Lee. They are moving in less than 2 weeks I think...so if your so inclined, you should contact them soon.

Congrats on the new ride! I test drove the base and loved it so I know the S must be amazing with the extra oomph. Thanks for the contact info. I'll definitely reach out to them if my local negotiations go south.

So far, I'm currently sitting at 7% with minimal negotiation. I told the dealer that folks are getting 10% on 718s. He said he doesn't know how that's possible.. and direct quote "there's not that much in it"... So I have a feeling they may not budge too much.

Zx9,

This dealership I was speaking of has 2 nice base caymans they want to sell soon. Both are black. I'm sure they would give you a good deal.

Thanks DP... I got a call back from my local guys and they're still sitting at 7%. They gave me 2k more than I expected on my trade value which would put me at that 10%~.I will give your guys a call in the morning and see what kind of numbers they're talking.

zx9,

The 2 base caymans they have are both black and both PDK. One has black interior, and the one has a two toned black/red interior. One has manual seats (one with red interior), and the other power seats. They are both beauties, and if I remember right, they are both in the $60's somewhere on the MSRP.

I will tell you that I have bought many cars from them, and they were good to me on this deal, but they are always. My gut feeling is that they may give you what you want for your trade, but may do 8-9% off on the cayman. Let us know how it went.

Good luck.

Hey DP,
You were spot on. Contacted Greg and he gave me 9%. Just trying to decide between PDK and Manual at this point. The one I've been eyeballing locally is a manual. Thanks for the contact info.
