Question Odd passenger window behavior

Ok, so my new-to-me 07 boxster has an odd issue with the passenger window, and I haven't found anything like it in any of the various online forums (trust me...I've searched. A LOT!).

Just to set the stage, a couple of points:
  1. the passenger door window motor & regulator were just replaced by the seller a few days before I took delivery (two weeks ago).
  2. the window has gone through the reset at least 5 or 6 times.

The one-touch operates normally when putting the passenger window down, and seems to behave normally when going up - to a point - but the window rebounds about 3/4 of the way up and drops again and stops. If I try to raise the window by continuously holding the switch, the same thing happens; but if I gradually raise the window an inch or so at a time, it will allow itself to be raised fully. At first I thought it might have to do with a sensor for the top latching mechanism or something similar, but the window does this even if the top is completely down and secure. The driver's side window behaves normally in all aspects. My indy hasn't seen anything like this before, either, so if anyone has any thoughts, it'd be appreciated.

Thanks!

The behavior suggests a problem with the door lock controller which is (at least in the case of my 2002 Boxster) a rather large plastic/aluminum box which contained mechanical as well as electrical/electronics that was the "smarts" of the door lock and window behavior.

In the case of my car I took the car to a local dealer and the tech used the Porsche diagnostic computer to check for any error codes ( I believe he found at least one but I do not recall the details ) and then tried some other things to see if the problem was a bad handle or door latch switch. It was not so he replaced the door lock controller assembly and the odd behavior was gone.

That the window regulator and motor were just replaced this raises the possibility of a less than satisfactory job. It is probably worth while to remove the door panel and check the work. And check to make sure all linkages/switch connections are good and well, just everything looks ok.

Be sure the door membrane is intact. If this is not it can let water from the wet side of the door to the dry side which can cause electrical gremlins. My experience is a membrane can't be resealed/repaired it should be replaced.
