Passenger Window

Hi.
When holding up the passenger switch for the window to go all the way up, it retracts down by itself about a 1/3 way. It will not go auto up at all past the 1/2 way point. tried resetting it thru research but no luck. any thoughts?

I'm not sure if I follow 100% but the passenger side window won't go up automatically until you've brought it up about 1/2 way, at that point if you let go of the button
It will continue to go up by itself.

It's a really stupid thing with the auto-up on that passenger window. I don't think there is a fix for it based on past conversations here and on Rennlist. I cant tell you how many times I accidentally left the passenger window down in the first 6mo of ownership because of this.

So you can't get the window closed at all? Sounds like maybe it's running into resistance and the anti pinch feature is kicking in?

no the window will close. its just if I hold the button ( not auto mode) to raise the window, after about 1/2 way up it acts as if the anti pinch feature kicks in and then goes down a 1/3 of the way. If i hold the button again, it will close. I had a PPI on the car and the dealer told me it might be a reprogramming issue as it will auto-down. I tried manually resetting using the window button without luck. Not a big deal but thought it was nice to discuss.

all the best

And you've done the window reset correct? Roll the window all the way up and then hold the button in the up position for a couple of seconds. Procedure is in the owners manual. Sometimes my passenger window gets confused and after I reset it works fine...until the next time it gets confused.

It is a safety thing so a child can't get their arm/head/body part stuck in there. Smart top will disable that feature. Weird thing is mine will go all the way up sometimes and other times it stop.

Hi Bazi:

I have the exact same problem with my '12 C4S.
Were you able to fix it?
TIA

Moses

Sounds similar to the issue the I'm having. I've had it into two different dealers, they've done the reset procedure and it still goes on. No problem found.

Except, there is. I'm just choosing to ignore it.

Thanks for sharing your experience John.
Its hard for me to believe that they can't find the faulty part for this issue.
My warranty expires soon and I need to have this problem fixed.
Maybe somebody else will chime in ...

Have you tried disconnecting the battery?
Also, did you disconnect the battery before this happening?
I had a similar issue a few years ago when I disconnected the battery to do some work. The window went bonkers. I tried lots of different things - nothing. I disconnected the battery - still nothing. Waited a couple of days while I did research - connected it again, and it was fixed...just like that. Weird. That was 3 or 4 years ago even...never had the issue again.

This issue happened to me twice. Fixed by the dealer both times under warranty. I was told that they replaced the motor the first time. Second time they just said we fixed it! They probably reset it. Its working fine now but im expecting it to happen again.
