Cayman S with 3.8-liter 911 engine

Whenever I see one of these swaps, it makes me wonder how amazing it would be if Porsche did this at the factory...

I've seen plenty of these swaps online, but never in person, even at car shows in LA, which I find a little curious.

Would not be surprised to learn Porsche has done this. Porsche probably has tried various engines in various cars to get some real experience with well various engines in cars

Porsche keeps these one offs under wraps to avoid feeding speculation for example 3.8l Cayman S or whatever is "in the works".

The cars are test mules and when Porsche is done with them they are destroyed.

Porsche has fitted various 911 engines in the Cayman. The problem was they were too fast and too light that if they produced them, they were afraid it would kill their 911 sales and ruin the following.
