2000 boxster wont turn over
2000 boxster wont turn over
I have had this older model boxster for 2 years now. Only driven in spring and fall for the most part. Has started religiously except for this Spring. Bought a new Battery old one died over the winter. Garage kept. Hopped in the other day after replacing the battery and cannot get it to fire...will not even give a hint it is about to turnover. Cranks fine just will not start. Any ideas before I have it towed and spend a buttload of money??

So the starter motor works and the battery is good. All it needs to run is fuel and a spark. Did you put any conditioner in the fuel before you stored the car for the winter. Gasoline can get pretty nasty sitting for long periods of time. May want to drain the fuel and refill with fresh and hope that the fuel lines aren’t all gummed up. If not getting spark, then the likely cause is either the immobilizer unit under the driver’s seat or the crank position sensor going bad. It is pretty easy to find out if you are getting spark - remove one of the spark plugs and then reconnect it to its coil pack and ground the outside of the plug to the engine, then get someone to try to start the car while you are looking at the spark plug for a spark to arc across the electrodes. Careful - high voltage coming from coil pack.
