987.2 running temps

Greetings to all,

I am new to this forum and thank you for your input. I own a 2009 Boxster 987.2 PDK. I bought it late last fall and have truly been driving in cold weather. I just serviced my AC and the fan at the air cabin filter turned on just fine however, the two front radiator fans I have not noticed that they come on at all. Maybe I've heard the fan kick on 2 times for a brief moment and air coming in through the side vents. My running temps is 175 middle of the gauge and does not get any hotter than that so far. I am doing all of my checks before the warmer climates and so just want to make sure that is all running in proper order. Your assistance and input are highly appreciated.

Thanks again,

Glenn

Congrats on your wise purchase! First of all, be aware that the dash temp display is just that - it is not a gauge at all - it is an idiot light tarted up to look like a real sports car gauge. Straight up around 175 is normal, to the left is cold, to the right is hot. I don't believe those fans come on at all until it starts getting hot. So do not be alarmed.

bldn10 thank you for your input. I serviced the AC myself today to include the air cabin filter and checked on the AC components. The freon pressure was on spot. The AC fan engaged and placed a smile on my face. Great to know that appears that the running temp and radiator fan is working properly as supposed to. This car has truly been a bunch of enjoyment. Not going through a mid-life crisis but going through having to retire at 52 after being diagnosed with some stuff. Truly the thing that I enjoy the most is tweaking around with this car, polishing the paint and enjoying driving the heck out of it whenever possible. Instead of getting a veteran service dog, I got myself a Porsche. Something to consider for many folks like me! I got it, "an emotional support companion". That's it!!!!

I was forced to retire also but at 42 and have been living it up, enjoy your retirement. By the way find yourself a good Lab or two and you will be in heaven.
