went to an Autocross today in Cayman S!
So I did my first runs in the Cayman at the Auto X, and I can say that I am happy with the results. As some know, the car has H and R's and 19" Champions, 295 Rears, PS2's. The car, with Sport mode on, and PSM on, was just perfect. It allowed just enough slide to have a great time and post up some decent numbers. Around the long sweepers, since this course was on a real race track, I could maintain a solid accelerating slide through, and I thinK I was one of the faster cars through that section. But the results are below
1. 60.1 Hit three cones
2. 59.7 Seconds Off Course (missed slalom, too much speed)
3. 58.9 Clean Run
4. 57.8 Hit the last cone before the traps
To put it into perspective, national auto X drivers in Elises running slicks were running 54-55's. I have no real Auto X experience. We all thought that with an experienced driver on street tires, the car could be down in the 55's, and on slicks around 52's.
What a good time, and for anyone who underestimates a Cayman, go get one. Had a 997S, and would never go back!
