Bro if you get up to Seattle anytime soon I have a ride waiting for you!
Brad Roberts is rebuilding my blown 3.2. He's bored it to fit the 3.8 cylinders and with a 2.7 crank and custom rods we are looking at a 4.1 L engine that will turn 9k all day long. Don't remember what the compression ratio is , but we made it so it works with an Eaton M90 so I can play with the Z06's.

Huh? What!? 4.1 S/C What? Huh? 2.7L

Bro,
Welcome to the brotherhood. I need to hear more about this monster. It is good to see that folks are starting to push the limits of the Boxster S, er I mean the Cayman Spyder S on this site dominated by TTs.

Last week. Shhhh....don't tell anyone...

I'm guaranteed a GT3 slot for May '08. It'll give me some time to enjoy the Cayman 3.8S Spyder (for a year)....

Who's Brad Roberts and what, specifically, is he doing to your 3.2L? Cost to do a S/C 4.1L would be helpful too, if it is available. If you don't feel comfortable, you an PM me.

Brad is a guy I met at a meeting that was held in Woodland Hills to discuss the specs for the Boxster Spec racing series. We got to talking afterward and it seemed like he was extremely knowledgable about Porsches in general and Boxsters specifically. He was working at Mind Over Motorsports in San Diego at the time and I ended up getting some stuff from them. When my engine broke its intermediate shaft I bought a lightweight flywheel from them and got into a discussion with Brad about what I wanted originally to do with my motor (supercharge it ala TPC). He mentioned he had the resources to rebuild my blown motor and wanted a 3.2 to practice on since all he had played with previously was 2.5 motors. I won't get into the specific arrangements but suffice it to say that he got my motor and tore it apart http://forum.pcasdr.org/forum/viewto...466&highlight= with the intention of rebuilding it. More discussions led to modifying it to take fuller adavntage of the blower which led to other mods. Basically what he is doing (not him specifically, much of the work is done by other shops/suppliers) is to bore and stroke the motor to get an oversquare engine capable of high revs with low compression. There are othe little enhancements being done improve the oiling, but basically it's a rebuild of my 3.2 motor into a 4.1 motor with an Eaton M90 blower attached. My goal is to get 500 rwhp, but Brad seems to think something over 400 is what we will end up getting.

What I would like to do is talk to Brad and see if he would be willing to write a short summary of what is going on with my motor and other related things that I can post in this and other forums. I'll post here again with an update as soon as I talk with him.

who is going to tune it? Will it be a stand alone system? My program is what took so long to get right and that was done by Giac who has a ton of know how with these cars.

Let me get the answer to that from Brad.

Yeah, talk to me! Nice to have some kudos on here.

I also think if you are even considering a Boxster that you should do a spec Boxster. They are light, fast, and effective, and for about 20-25k you can be on the track fully ready to race in a well-equipped and capable car. A good driver can easily keep up with a street GT3 with R compounds in a spec Boxster due to the light weight and excellent handling.

Of course I can hook you up with whatever you need...

Todd,
Just out of curiosity, what is the hp to weight ratio? I'm very intrigued about the idea of building a spec racer. I've been looking at the Spec racer site and the discussion board. How many cars are now racing? Is there a series? Can you share with this board some general guidelines?

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Also, as a small favor, can we call it the Spec Cayman Spyder?
