I use 98 octane in both my BMW and Boxster S, I have tried 91 octane and honestly its a waste of money, you use more fuel and get less power with that fuel in these cars.

Do you have 98 octane in your state?

where do you live that you can get 98? The highest Ive seen is 93 unless you are at a track and getting race gas.

Im in Australia, you can get up to 100 octane fuel with 5% ethanol, runs great in the bmw but porsche recons ethanol fuel is bad for its fuel lines?

Either way, japan can get up to 108+ octane, now thats real jungle juice

without changes to the ignition timing, there is no benefit to be derived from running higher ocate gas than is recomended for the particular car. your just burning away money....

now if you can take advantage with tuning, then god love ya...

stick to 93, or if you can find the sunoco IIRC 94 octane. other than that unless you have a program for higher fuel grades, its not going to matter. stick to 93 or 94 if you can find it because thats the best youre going to get. try using injector cleaner once in a while after filling up with a full tank of gas.

I only know of the one out in Norco, CA .. a few minutes from work, but I wouldn't mind knowing where some of the ones closer to the coast are. Do you have a list by chance?

You're fooling yourself if you think that you are getting one type of gas over another. Do a little research into how the gasoline distribution system works, and you'll quickly realize that it is a system of deposits and credits .. meaning:

Sunoco could "deposit" 20M gallons of X grade fuel into the pipe at the beginning of the line, and make a 10M gallon withdrawl at the other end on the same day. It is most likely that Sunoco WAS NOT the one that put the gas INTO the system that they are taking OUT of it.

So, for any gasoline entering the system in the gulf, it stands to reason that it could be sourced from the gulf itself, south america, or even perhaps the middle east. The only differentiator amongst the brands anymore are the additives each marque put into the gas, i.e. Techron from Chevron, or mashed up Tiger bits from Exxon.

stick w top tier gas. the detergent additive is better.

as far as octane, US used RON index while Asia uses a different index that is higher for the same gas. So, your 108 octane in Japan is not the same as US.
