Cayman - How to access headlight bulbs?
Cayman - How to access headlight bulbs?
Can anybody tell me, or link me to a DIY on how to access the headlight to change the bulbson the Cayman S? Do you have to remove the bumper or what?
Fogs too is you know.
Thanks in advance!!!!

You do not have to remove the bumper, the headlights pop out of the fender as a whole unit. You then open the headlight unit from the bottom and replace the bulb.
It's been quite some time since I had mine out and I get them confused with my 993 but to the best of my recollection I'll give it a shot: You need to peel down the carpet in the front trunk at the top sides near the headlights. There may even be a little plastic door you have to open (blue maybe?) to gain access to the unlocking mechanism through a hole in the body that goes over and behind the entire headlight assembly.
I think on the 993 there is a metal handle that you twist but I seem to recall having to use a tool or two from the tool kit to stick in the hole and unlock the light and pop it out on the 987. You basically twist the tool (clockwise?) and it unlocks the light and pops it out forward. When replacing the headlight, you slide it back into the fender hole then twist the tool again to re-lock it.
*** There may be instructions in the manual about changing a bulb in an emergency and I would look there first.
I'm sorry the instructions are so flaky but it's been a couple of years since I did it. You'll want to make sure you get it locked back into place so they don't fly out when you brake the first time ($$$) so you could call or visit your dealer for more precise intructions.
As for the foglight, there is a screw in the corner that you have to remove first then you swing the fog light out a bit and there is a clip on the other end of the foglight which goes into a little slot and you slide it out. To replace, you slide the clip into the slot and then rotate the fog back in and replace the screw.
Tuners are starting to make replacement bulbs to match the xenons color for both the city/driving bulb and the fog light in there.

Again, sorry for the crappy instructions but that's the basics anyway.
