I think the cayman or boxter S is your best choice..
or just get a 997 C4S Cabrio...
thk's everybody both dealer have give me a test drive on saturday. mmm... honestly when i get in SL is more space and relax, the engine is ok 0-100 about 5-6 secs, and i try top down driving and its wonderfull. I went to porsche test drive, the cayman s makes me more sporty rocks, and younger. i sprints the car and its sounds great. I love both, i'm just imagine when the cayman S comes with convertible hardtop. Still wait the dealer price, and post picture and inform u guys later. Thank you very2 much
Thank you WT racing the 997C4s cabrio is too expensive for me, and also they dont have a used car. The porsche dealer only have boxster '06 and Cayman S '06 and Carrera 996 used car. Boxster is much cheaper, any idea of just getting a boxster.. Is the 2.7 engine enough ?? how is the handling ??
I am qualified to answer this, as we have both a 2.7l 987Boxster and an '03 SL.
Ever since I got the Boxster, I DREAD driving the SL. It's so boaty. Over rough pavement, you hear the plastic rattling, like the car was made from dump yard materials. It has a long hood, making it difficult to judge the dimensions of the car when parking.
Oh, and the steering. God damn that steering. It carries a HUGE dead spot when the steering wheel is upright, about 1 inch in either direction. Makes it very hard to do precise driving.
For highway speeds, the SL blows away the 987. Not by far, but by a considerable amount.
All in all, I feel much better in my Boxster and that snug cockpit feel.
You, on the other hand, seem to appreciate the spacious cockpit of the SL.
Go for what you love is all I can say.
