Help! 986 exhaust (modification) problems

Hello to all,

i have a little problem with my modificated exhaust.
To improve the 'vacuum cleaner sound' of my 2000 Boxster S I removed the content of its exhaust.
Indeed the car sounds better now BUT it is a bit too loud.
Especially between 1000 and 3000 rpm the car is droning.

What would you advice?
The sound itself is good (even PSE owners would be jealous) but it should be a bit more quiet and the droning should disappear.

Thanks,

Cade

You mean you emptied out the muffler or something? Not exactly sure what you did. What you need is a better muffler that is loud but not too loud.

I have this: http://www.evoms.com/marketplace/Vie...81D4E89FF46%7D

No 8-10hp and tq gain tho lol. nice try there guys.

Yes Jim, I emptied out the muffler.

A sport exhaust is no option for me - the German versions all sound horrible.
Beyond that it takes a few thousand miles until the sound is really good if you buy a new muffler.

The question is how I improve the sound of my existing, emptied out muffler...

I think until you put the stuffing back in you are stuck with the resonance... you could try heat wrapping it, or maybe doing a PSE type work around like you see on ebay...

What do you think about welding two perforated pipes into the muffler?

But the question is which pipes should I use (shape, diameter, size of the holes)...
