Buying a Cayman

I am caught in an odd situation, the CEO of our company likes my Cayenne and decided he wants a Porsche. He finally decided on a Cayman, and asked me to buy it for him, him paying of course. He is Japanese and speaks very little English. Nice guy so I don't mind helping him out so basically he is giving me his check book and asking me to buy one.

I don't really have time to research the Cayman like I did when I bought my Cayenne.

Is there any thing I should avoid or be concerned with concerning known problems with the Cayman? Any ideas on options you "can't be without" with the Cayman? I got about 13% off MSRP on the Cayenne, can you get about the same on the Cayman?

Thanks in advace
Frank

What kind of CEO living in Ohio can't speak English well. is it for an American Company?
If you need help on getting a sweet deal, holla at me (that would be PM) And i can save u some money and headache.

The cars are solid, no issues. He would be fine. Just make sure he gets a 6 speed.

There are occasional clutch issues, namely the slave cylinder goes. Its under warranty, and nothing you can really do about it. Other than that, the cars are very solid and reliable (its basically a standard porsche motor in a boxster that has been around a while, nothing too exotic about it mechanically)

I would get the standard fair options: bixenons, heated seats, etc. Maybe PCM navigation. The PASM suspension option in the S is nice too, smooths the car out if he is driving it daily. Of course, a cayman can get expensive quick, not sure what his budget is.

On a 2007 leftover (and yes, they are out there) you should be able to manage 12-15% off MSRP; for a 2008, its hard to say as the model year is new, and hopefully the dealers memories arent so short they forgot caymans dont sell well. Discount is usually better on Caymans than the CaymanS.

The kind from Japan? Company is 2/3 Japanese, 1/3 American owned, the Ceo's are always Japanese and they stay for 5 years at a time. He speaks pretty good English, about as good as my Japanese, he just isn't comfortable buying a Porsche by himself, I know I wouldn't feel comfortable buying a car in Japan.

I'm really not sure how much he wants to spend yet, I have to take my pepper back to the dealer next Saturday for some repairs, I'm going to look at them more closely then.

Thanks
Frank

I would recommend a well optioned S at 68K and look to get 6-8% off or more considering that the seasons are probably changing (guess). Chrono for convenience more than the sport button, power seat pkg, nav, maybe bose 19"s..... dual zone climate.
