The other consideration is that you could have gotten one for free. Since 918 customers are VIP's in the Porsche World they get first dibs on new rare models. If you just purchased the GT3s, GT3RSs, and the 911R, and sold them, the profit would have paid for the 918...

PCNA had me on their prospect list and sent me a beautiful 918 package when they launched. I could have bought one, I passed, in retrospect...

 

I think the music has ended in terms of appreciation on the 918. Values seem to be dropping consistently

Yes, at recent auction a 918 didn’t sell after it didn’t make $1mil in bids.

 

they didnt have a problem selling the 918's as there Speed Test were 300 people who were on standby in case a buyer backed out.

 

Not the case. The last few were absolutely hard for them to sell. My buddy got one of the last ones. He was getting begged by a SoCal dealer to just buy it. He did. He still has it and is happy as hell enjoying all the GT cars at MSRP. He knows for a fact of 2 others so at least 3 of the 300 DID NOT have people on a waiting list to buy them.
