Tiptronic starting in D1

Occasionally, tiptronic/automatic is starting the car in D1. I was under the impression that the only way to get it into first was to go into manual mode. Any ideas?

It's only supposed to do that if you have the PSM turned off. Also, mine does it on a cold start the first time I put it in drive. They are never supposed to just do it randomly though. Are you giving the vehicle over 3/4 gas starting off? Then it would downshift to 1st. I wish there was some way to just make the Cayenne's start in 1st all the time, without having to turn the PSM off.

It might be the cold start ... I'll pay more attention and see. Thanks.

Probably a cold start. Let us know.

I don't mind the starting in 2 though
