40k service quote

I took my CS in for a quote for 40k service from an independent shop that works primarily on Ferrari and they quoted me $500 for plugs, air filters, oil change, rotation, and inspection. Does this sound like a fair deal?

Porsche calls for new plugs on a CS at 60k not 40k. My 40k servicing at the dealer cost about $370 including tax.

A Porsche dealer would charge you upwards of $1,100.

They advised me to do the plugs because it is an '04. Should I skip them?

Mine is an 04. I have 50k of trouble free driving, following Porsche recommendations. I would trust the Porsche engineers who designed the car more than your mechanic.

I am getting 40K service on my '04 CS also. Got quotes from 3 dealers,
$960 with loaner
$848 with no loaner-same day service
$475-$500 without Spark Plugs, the service manager recommended it to be done at 60K instead of 4 years.

I agree but I see in the manual it staes "60k miles but no later than every 4 yrs." My car is approaching 4yrs next August.

One of the service manager's words were there are '04 Cayennes S out there with less than 10k miles and it really doesn't make sense to change the spark plugs after 4 yrs due to the low milage...

Anyway, if you have 9 months before it turns 4yrs old, I would say wait until then and combine it with the annual service.

What does 4 years have to do with spark plugs?

On the CS maintenance schedule, Spark Plugs are recommended to be replaced at 60K miles or 4 years, which ever comes first.

Roslyn quoted me the following for 40K service:
1. $330 plus tax for oil change and list of checks.
2. $960 plus tax for oil change and list of checks plus Spark Plugs.

I am going with option #1.
