Fellow member Alpine_997 is installing HID for his fogs... I'm sure he'll chime in.

Good luck and be sure to post some pics after you're done.

HID = High Intensity Discharge = Xenon

Low & High beam are both xenon. Either on separate bulbs or in a single bulb covered by some ... "obturator" I dont know how to call it that goes up when the high beam is activated.

L.E.: Here's a better explanation

Bi-xenon headlamps use a single xenon lamp to produce both the high beam and the low beam. The full light output is used to produce the high beam, while the low beam is formed by moving a shutter between the bulb and the lens, thus blocking off a portion of the light.

Some cars (BMW 7Series, Audi A8, etc) have two bulbs

Not complete yet

I also don't want the "YOU WILL BLIND PEOPLE" police to come after me again.

I did mine last weekend, low beam only, I have no dash errors from the kit I used. I am very pleased with the results. 8000K. 35watt.

Strange as it may seem but the lowbeam space in the headlamp unit is big enough to get the ballast and all the wiring inside it with the cover on.

8000K is crazy. it's almost purple ... 4300 K is the way , same as OEM , you can go with 5000K too if you can't find some quality Hella ones, it's a bit more blueish at 5K

Mudman - post some pics would ya If I am not too lazy today I might complete the HID project for the fogs. I will go with the 4300/5000/6000. I have several of each and I hope that I have the H11's for the fogs If not then the lowbeams gets the treatment for now and the fogs when I get the H11's.

It is nice to have all of that fix inside isn't it? Makes you not worry about them getting wet up there unless you decide to cross a very deep creek Get out the air snorkel!

It will only be a matter of time before the "LUMENS" police swoop down and tell you how the output on 4300K is the best.

Post pictures!

I am interested in some pictures also. Would like to see how the fogs look with 8000k bulbs.

I replaced my H7 (hi beam) and H3 (fog) bulbs with Ultra Bright bulbs from Sylvania and PIAA. Rated at 4300 K they provide the highest lumens and still match with the color of the HID.

Remember, higher color temperature, lower lumen output. The higher you go past 4500K less light output will available.
