Fine Vibration at low speeds, clunk in front end- help!

I have a 05 CTT and I took it in for 40k service. When I got it back, I now have a fine vibration, much like an electric razor thru the wheel and you can feel it on the center console as well, at speeds about 40-45 mph. If I go faster it seems to diminish. Anyone else ever have this?

Also, if I move the steering wheel side to side quickly, there is a clunk that can be felt thru the whole car. Shop can't seem to find it. No issues when driving, but always very noticable when backing out at work at night and ratcheting the wheel w/one hand...anyone else ever have this?

Possible bent wheel for the vibration and no clue on the clunk...

it is a common known problem.
You have to make sure the tires were put on properly (possibly not balanced).
I had to take my Cayenne S 3 times before they got it right.

Thanks guys but it's the same set of wheels that were on the car when I took it in to them, no vibration. Plus usually if it's the wheels it gets worse as you go faster, not usually feeling it a 40-45 then smooths out as it goes faster. Feels more like a drive train issue since the vibration is so high in frequency (much like the very fine vibration of an electric razor)

The clunk they say "may" be the steering rack. They did do some front end work to try to fix the clunk and put some new bushings in and tightened something involving the steering rack.

Okay, the problem might be at the axles, if the axles are not completely straight, they cause this vibration and strange sound. did you hit anything recently, or anything similar to hitting?

I had a clunk sound from the front end every time I turned sharply. I also noticed a medium gray fluid dripping on the ground (parked in the garage). The dealer replaced the lower A-arm under warranty. All better now.

Thanks guys, no, I haven't hit anything and I didn't have this issue when I took the car in for service, only when I got it back. I noticed it within 3/4 of a mile from the dealership. I took it right back and pick it up tommorrow so we'll see. Thanks again everyone.

Check the lower A arm and front brackets. I have seen a couple fail on Cayennes and all had a similiar noise to what you describe. Please let us know how you make out.

Hi all:
New to the forum & excited I have something to contribute. I had this exact same thing happen to our CTT in the past 48 hours (car has 53k miles). After close inspection by our mechanic it was related to a failure related to the drive shaft center support. When this piece failed it caused the drive shaft to slightly orbit. Unfortunately, this part can't be fixed by itself since the unit has to be replaced as a whole. Hope that helps & gives you another idea!
