4 Quarts in 4k Miles!

This can't possibly be normal or is it? I'm on average putting a quart in my CTT every 1k miles...I got the 40k mile service done a bit late (at 42k) and it now has 46.5k miles on it....since that oil change, I've put in 4 quarts of oil....should I be worried about a leak or even worse, something making the engine burn oil too fast??

I could have sworn I read people saying normal was about 3k miles or so on this forum...either way, that's a lot of oil to be burning...

That's soooo normal
But come on, it deserves a little bit oil for that performance, right?

Yup, 1000 miles a quart.

That is the reason why Porsche recommends oil change every 20K since you constantly have fresh oil.

If it's normal, fine by me...i was just worried that there might be a problem...it makes sense now that they want you to change every 20k miles...hell, you probably only need a filter change really with the amount of oil being added.

I had 5 quarts in the house...I'm going to go and buy like 10 now.

How much was it using before the service? It does seem pretty normal, I think I can go a little longer but not much.

I didn't have the truck too long before the service....I added one quart, but I got the truck around that time, so I can't comment on how much it was using back then...does the S model use less oil or is it the same regardless of which Cayenne you have?

I, for one, drive it very hard almost everyday....I'm sure that leads to adding oil quicker too....I can't imagine anyone who has a CTT, NOT driving it hard daily.

I had a little talk with one of the service managers today at the dealer where I get my Cayenne serviced...he owns two Turbos..one is an 06 and one is an 08...he told me that when you see the oil light come on, not to just add one quart to make the light go away but check the dip stick and put in as much as needed to get it back to a proper level.

I was guilty of just throwing in a quart (which he said most people do)...he said if you fill it properly, you will on average use 2-3 quarts every time the light comes on and that the vehicle should go 2500-3000 miles afterwards easy, if not more.

Just thought I'd let you guys know what he said...he seemed to know a lot about Porsche's in general.

It sucks to have to add so much oil to keep the truck running smooth, but like others have said, if you want to have that edge in your truck, you gotta deal with things like this.
