Installed custom Magnaflow Exhaust

So after researching for HOURS (eyes hurt), I decided to follow the exact setup as another member on here and am installing a custom magnaflow exhaust and new tips. This setup should satisfy my ears... and DEFINATELY satisfy the wallet. Total install is supposed to be w/ labor and material... $600 out the door. I'll let you guys know how it sounds.

I was just planning on getting the bypass pipe..., but maybe porsche put it there for a reason rather than easily quieting down the original exhaust. So I'm hoping that the magnaflow is the key to a growl when at WOT and no drone in the cabin.

I'll post a clip once its installed.. surprised more people don't do this. I mean the cheapest exhaust I found for the Cayenne is the Remus.., and that was their old version for $1200..., and thats not including install. Why don't more people go custom?

Congratulations, post up some video clips so that we can differentiate between it and the Fabspeed system, tubi and other offerings.

Ok.. Installation complete. Had them install two highly polished Magnaflow exhausts on the car, with some magnaflow (silverline) tips. The install itself was excellent. Having the pipes bent and putting the cans in the right spot on both sides is an art. This guy at Dan Fast in Bellevue (no affiliation) really knows his stuff.

They started the car, and too my disappointment, it was quiet. I mean there was a louder rumble to it, one that I could never hear stock.., but it was still quiet.

Today is the 2nd day driving the car and I can say that its a bit louder at idle.. nice rumble coming out the tips.. but still somewhat quiet. When driving, its quiet inside. A faint rumble is noticeable when driving.. but not much.

So I ended up having my dad drive the car, while I was outside on the street. He first pulled away slowly... which sounded fantastic! I couldn't believe the sound from the outside when actually moving. It sounds beautiful man. Then I had him stop and drive away at full throttle. OH MY GOD, INSANE!!!!! I can't believe how loud the damn thing is... I MEAN SERIOUSLY LOUD!! It was crazy.. can't believe how well insulated the truck is from the inside. Its so tame on the inside of the car you would never believe it. But the outside is unbelievable.

To all those looking for exhausts.. forget about it. Go to a local exhaust place, install a custom exhaust like mine w/ magnaflow mufflers and save yourself big time in expense. I paid $600 out the door for everything including labor.

I'll try to put a sound clip up shortly..

Seattle996,
I got your PM but figured I'd answer your quesitons here...

1. The exhaust did get a bit louder over time but not by much. From inside the cabin the truck is very well isulated so you will not hear as much as you would probably like. As you've already observed... from the outside the truck sounds like a BEAST!

2. I had custom exhaust tips made to match the ones that were made for my 996TT. I have enclosed some pictures for you to take a look at.... They took a bit of time to fab up but I think the end result was well worth it.

I am thinking of adding Cat bypass pipes in the future but seeing how this is my wife's daily driver I am not sure if SHE can live with the added "noise"

So here is a pic of the install underneath the car.

I went back today and had them take off the tips they sold me and had them custom make two single tips into dual tips. I think it looks pretty good, what do you guys think. There is a visual on the video.

The sound is still new to me. At idle its still quiet. Excuse my friend for being rev happy on the video when at idle. hahhaa By the way.. did you know that if you rev the car while in park the computer won't let you rev past 4k??!! He figured that out.. thank god its idiot proof

It's not so different than stock anyways. Stock exhaust also growls when you hear a cayenne passing by

No it actually doesn't.. Trust me. Maybe on yours it sounds nice, being that its newer. I heard the sport exhaust on the new cayenne..., that is very nice sounding. But mine stock was a shame to the Porsche name. Using the word growl on my stock exhaust is funny compared to what it sounds like now..

You may be correct. I can record my exhaust sound too actually, let's compare.
