Roof transport system. Help....

I recently bought the Porsche OEM roof transport system with the 2 adjustable bars from a member. I need help. I cannot seem to get the bars to clamp down on the factory roof rails.

I pushed down on the little lever on the back and lined up to the notch cut out on the rails, but the front plastic face plate will not close fully, hence not fully clamped down. Any harder and the plastic face will break. Does it need lube? How much pressure does it take for the front cover to close?

I have a 06 CS. I assume the railing are the same through out the years. I must be missing something. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

The rails take quite a bit of pressure to close. Do you have th ekey lock as well? You need to make sure to unlock them before closing the plastic sides to lock in. I would take the rails out again and try to close the sides to grasp the force required to lock them down. Hope this helps.

make sure the rails are in the slides and apply a slight pressure to lock them, then lock with the key and take the key out. It's actually pretty straightforward...

That's why I opted for the rail system. This way you can get any rack system to fit your needs.

Thanks TCM and Canberk. I think I have been doing what you guys have described.
I know this sounds crazy, but it almost feels like the railing is too thick for the clamp to fully close.
This can't be that hard! I have experiences with other OEM roof racks and it is pretty simple.
I am not sure what is wrong........

OK I got it on!

I had to put soooo much more pressure that expected, almost forcing it and it slowly clamped down. Now it is tight and secure.

Thanks for everyone's input. You guys are the best!
