Brakes on Cayenne (or the lack of it)

Went to test drive a Cayenne turbo today. I quite like the power (will love the turbo S) but the brakes are weak!! Is it just me? or is it the car i drove? turbo S has better brakes? anyone got the ceramics?

(Obviously, i can't compare to the r8 but i have to say even the hyundai sonata is better!)

We have an 04 CTT and I love the brakes. The published braking distances for 60-0 are not far off many sports cars.

The CTT 60-0 is 127', just 17' longer than a BMW M3 for a car that weighs twice as much.

Get on 'em harder and let those big reds work!

you have to push hard to test them not just test drive them if you know what I mean. Since all the vehicles I have owned this cayenne has one of the most controllable and instaneous response with braking

Thanks for the note. I guess I couldn't really stomp on it with my pregnant wife in the car and was just expecting the brakes to work well naturally.

Any one has the PCCB? If so, do you like it? Any problem when cold?

hmm
i think the braking levels don't vary much.
i mean if you push down a little, you get little decelleration but if you push down a bit more you get a very hard stop.
well, this is on the v6, haven't tried other cayennes.

I have had my '06 CTTS on the track withe the Porsche Club and at a performance driving school. Very seasoned instructors have raved about the stopping power. I have test driven 08 CTT's and GTS's a couple of times. I think the CTT brakes are quite similiar to the CTTS's but the GTS's felt inferior by comparison.

The brakes on the CTT do pretty well for such a heavy vehicle. It's all about mass and the sensation of how that mass shifts forward when you really stop on the brakes. A lower center of gravity goes a long way in hiding that feeling (which SUVs just do not have). The actual 60-0 measurement just goes to prove to you that they're working...

I may be wrong but I don't think ceramic brakes are going to stop you any faster in an emergency. Now, if you're going to be doing lap after lap after lap on a track them the ceramic brakes will keep giving you the same bite over and over whereas the red-calipered P-brakes will start to fade...

the brakes feel good to me, every rotor/pad combination is going to feel different, you just need to learn how to work it.

All the Cayennes have plenty of stopping power, if it was a new car you test drove im positive they werent even broken in yet.... the Black,Silver, and Red brakes across the line are identical just painted different except for the "big" reds.
