20" or 22" wheels?

I know this is very much a personal choice. However, I am in the market for a new set and would appreciate any thoughts especially by those who have gone through the same decision process and upgraded their wheels.

It is personal, but I have had a CT with Champion RS97's in 22's. Made the brakes look tremendous and the wheels made the car. They were lighter than factory, by a margin, and I could notice additional speed and power from my SUV. I would get em again in a minute, and thinking about it on my 09 CTS.

Thanks for the reply. What size tires are you using? Were you required to install wheel arch extensions?

I have Neez 20 x 10 on my '08 V6, and it weights a little less than the stock 17" set. I would recommend it to anyone who is after the ultra light wheels.

No extensions. The height of the tire and wheel were still at factory specs, except the rear wheels had the big dish "lip" and the front didn't due to the brakes. Similiar to 911 wheels. Could not rotate them front to back.

It really does come down to personal choice. We seem to no longer really put any 20" wheels on customers cars, they all seem to go with 22's and some 23's

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions...

i went with 22" wheels purely for looks. it fills out the wheel wells at bit more. if you want performance, i would pick 20" since the 22" are heavy.

Thanks for all your help guys - all of this is very helpful. I am slowly getting the sense that 22" is the way to go...

The 22's look good. The only concern for me is with such a heavy car and thin sidewalls it would be pretty easy to bend the wheels.

The 22" Rinspeed C5/1 looks nice on that gray Cayenne.

I currently have 22" RUF wheels. I've lost one wheel to a SoCal pothole to date. I'm considering 20" for several reasons - more resilient to potholes and since I travel often up to NorCal and back to SoCal (1200+ mile round trip), if I have a major flat (can't be repaired), I feel that a 20" tire is more readily available than a 22" tire. Let's not forget price - a 20" tire is typically less than a 22" tire (all other things the same).

I chose 21' BBS wheels. I felt the 22's sacraficed ride quality and the 20's were too small. Of course, like others, it just my opinion. 21' tires are not hard to find.

I was thinking about 21" wheels but there does not appear to be a big selection to chose from.
