looking to buy older cayenne
Yes, that is fairly cheap on an absolute sense. However, just wait until something goes wrong and you will see a large number on the repair bill. If you search, you will find the 2003-04 models have certain inherent problems and I would think it through before I buy that car.
If you really want a Cayenne, I would look for a 2005+ with a CPO warranty. Your parents will thank you later for paying a little more upfront but save some potential headaches down the road.

thnanks!
cheap and porsche are definately two things that don't go together... Ask the dealership how much a brake job will cost (not covered under warantee) or any other of the very costly maintenance items (ex spark plugs)... Definately look at a CPO car and that should take care of most of the issues. But when you look into things like tires, gas, insurance etc... these cars typically are not "cheap" cars to own.
Good luck!

I have an 04 S and I love the car and it has been trouble free but I would be leery of a $17,00o Cayenne. Repairs on any Porsche are pretty steep, in fact the annual service for my Cayenne at the Porsche dealer was routinely higher than my F355 service at the Ferrari dealer
That does seem a little cheap and if anything kills your checking account, it will most likely be the routine stuff. Brakes and tires are expensive, and you WILL go through them. As for stuff going bad or "breaking", water pumps and drive shafts are the most common at that milage. CPO is worth every penny. Not because they are bad vehilces, but they do require maint. and it is a Porsche. Parts and labor are expensive. Let us know what you do. Good luck with it and with school.
Anyone here konw a good 3rd party warr? I'm looking at a 06 Cayenne S for my dad..its gonna be from Manhiem and will have somewhere between 25-30k.

My 40k mile service was $1400. My front rotors and pads ran another $1100. Just put on new tires for another $1300. I've had it for 6 months. Hopefully I'll be good for another six b/f I need anything else.
There are far better (yes, I said better) vehicles if you want "something fairly cheap that my parents wouldn't mind paying".

The tires are normal, the rotors i would do myself but the 40k service is a
I have an 04 CS which has been problem free at 60K miles. I bought it used and paid 3200 for extended warranty. I have not used it but I think I have an issue with the transmission. I am glad I have the warranty because I don't want to pay 8 grand for a new tranny.
I recommend you get a different car than a Cayenne simply because of the maintenance. It's like having a baby, only cleaner. :-)
