I wish I knew.

I have a 2006 Titanium S $72K msrp, no accidents or paint work, excellent condition, 24,000 miles. Best offer for trade was $38,000.

wow, sad.
The highest MSRP on new I just saw was 10% off MSRP, just yesterday on brand new.

Things like that are killing the resale.
What happened to housing might very well happen to the car market.

One of the highest resales too. I see it all the time. SUVs are just not in demand like they were. Plus you have to remember when evaluating a trade in value you basically subtract all the options. This as we all know makes quite a big impact on our Porsches....

+ 06s are now 3 years old. Residual value should be around 55%

That is probably the biggest problem. Mine was discounted $10,000 when I bought it in Feb 2007. I traded a GMC Duramax PU on it and got $2,000 over high book on it. Those days are over, you can't give away a diesel pickup these days. I think a lot of the resale values has to do with the economy.

So you paid $62k, trade-in is $38k, that's still over 60%. That is actually pretty good if you compare the Cayenne to the other mid or full sized SUVs on the market. They are going for 20-30% below normal trade-in values!

When you put it that way it sounds better. I know what you mean about other suvs. I tried to trade my daughters 2006 Grand Cherokee with 22,000 miles and msrp of $42,000 and they offered me $18,000. They said they didn't want it because of the Hemi.

It's not much better for the Turbos. I just sold my 04 CTT with 29k miles after 5 months on the market...as for price/depreciation, it wasn't pretty...

they offered 55k for my 78k MSRP 08 Cayenne S with 12k miles on it... Not selling it definitely, but that also means I'm not getting the 09 Turbo S that I was planning to get. Ordered a new C4S, will arrive in 2 months hopefully..

yeah, it's pretty bad to say the least.
i sold mine after 2 years at 50k. I guess I sold it off before the SUV craze died off.

Oh well, I think he is also gonna keep the car and get the aftermarket warranty for 6k to 100k miles. That's pretty hefty.

I don't understand what are you guys complaining about? The Cayenne is holding value very well compare to other mid or full size SUVs or luxury cars in general. 55k for 78k is 70%, that is if you paid full sticker? I will give you guys some numbers to think about:

2007 FJ Cruiser. new $32k, now $17k trade in
2006 Touareg V8, new $50k, now $20k trade in
2004 E55, new $90k, now $35k trade in

These are just some numbers I am aware of and the list goes on. I think the bottomline is how much you paid when new. I think the older Cayenne Turbo takes bigger hit then the S or V6. But then again, many of the Turbo S were discounted like $20-30k off $110-120k msrp and they are still going for $70-80k if I am not mistaken.

06 Cayenne is the new body. You guys are getting good money as wilfred said. The SUV market is not going away forever. Trust me just give it less than 6 months and you will see the market start to get strong.

Americans have to have SUV and big trucks and there is no way around it. Soccer mom cant get all her 4 kids and jump on a bus or in a honda accord, it just wont ever happen.

Hang in their it will get better.

I did really well when I sold my 2004 Cayenne S, MSRP at $89K (Canadian price), traded it in after 4 years for the CTT for $47K.
