Installed DICE iPod Interface in My Cayenne S

Well I wanted to see how these DICE iPod interfaces worked so I installed one in my Audi A3 and one in my Cayenne S. The installation is very direct. There is just alot of time in taking apart components. First for the Cayenne we had to pull out the right rear panel to access the back of the factory CD Changer to connect a wire. The head unit was simple to pop off the trim plate and then take out the head unit. Once we installed the module in the back and added the infrared cable needed for the 2004 model, we had to run the actual iPod connecting wire which is what your iPod plugs into. We wanted to run it to the center console glove box so we pulled the console all out. The entire process is about a 3 hour job if you DIY or a shop can do it in about 1 - 2 hours.

You can view the DICE products here - http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/d...s-p-54579.html

That is correct, it makes the CD Changer inoperable. Frankly if you have an iPod, you dont need a CD Changer!

Has anyone found a good DIY install guide for the DICE in a Cayenne? Or done the install and can provide a few "How To Tips".

Other than the few pictures Dan has provided here, I am not seeing much of a guide at all from DICE.

Plan to do the install this weekend and would prefer to read as much as possible before pulling everything apart. My ideal setup is to run the iPod and Aux-in cables up through the center console for an OEM looking install.

Do you have any menu showing how to take away the trim part surrounding the CD-Changer as i want to put the bypass ring in the MOST system.
Thanks!

BIG +1 on that. I have to replace my fuel door relay and I will be dammed if I can figure out how to take the inner well interior piece off. From what I see, it looks like you have to take off pieces in both directions including the rear upper pillar trim. Someone also told me that the right side section of the rear seat even had to come out.

ALSO

- if you insert the dice MOST interface at the rear CD changer, does it mean that you have to run the ipod interface cable from that point to the center console? If so, is the supplied cable long enough or do you extend it?

- Does the DICE work with iPhone (for music purposes - not phone)?

Thanks

Dan,

Couple questions:

1. How fast is the response time of DICE unit? Meaning is it as fast as the CD changer? Some of these units have a lag time.

2. Are you going to assemble a group buy of them?

another question...

3. is there any reason why you wouldn't mount the ipod in the back (where the changer mounts) along with the DICE unit? Is there any reason to have the ipod up front?

FlyYellow,

For me, if i mount in the front, means i could access my ipod earlier if i connect it thru AUX-IN. I guess i'll use AUX-IN since i can access my ipod faster and could browse Chinese Songs.

But i'm sure you can mount it at the back next to the CD Changer.

Now, i face biggest problem is how to take away the trim part surrounding the CD Changer and to install the bypass ring.

Cheers!
