I do not know if it is a common problem……but on our 05 V6 we had a problem with down shifting. At first it was just a harder than normal down shift under easy breaking. Then it became a violent 5th to 2nd down shift…..
At first the dealer would not do anything because I did not have “N” rated tires. No big deal we were getting close to needing a new set of tires anyway. After we installed the new approved tires the problem became worse. We had to drive with the PSM off until I could get to the dealer.
The dealer changed the transmission shift module, re-programmed the traction control and service trans all under warranty.
We have not had any problems since then.
Good luck

Do you know if the '08s have the same issue?
Mine does have a jerk when it downshifts but nothing too violent but noticeable. I JUST (two days ago) swapped my tires for an allseason set which aren't n-rated. I'm sure my dealer will give me the same run around not wanting to do any work on it until I get new tires.
