04CS is infamous around these parts
1st post, Help me Mod my 04 CS

Hello all. I have been stalking the site and decided to join and get a few of my questions answered. I have an 04 Cayenne S. Not sure on the technical color name, I believe its Dark Metallic Grey (gunmetal grey?)

I currently have 22s on it. Once i figure out how to post pics i will. They are chrome but I am sick of the chrome look and want to get them powerblasted and done black. Should i go flat black or gloss black? Anyone have pics of my color car with black rims?

I am in the market to lower it as well. Anyone have suggestions? Is there a downside (problems with suspension etc...) by lowering? It does not have the stock air suspension. Should I do springs only (sounds like it costs about $300-400) or should I upgrade suspension? Was also curious on an air ride system. I know that these are pricey (i think $2500 ish). Is it worth it? I love the slammed look of many of your Cayennes that i have seen but not sure if anyone has done this. Please show pics

I want to do something with the exhaust as well. Not sure yet, leaning towards some type of dual exhaust tips, found here.

Anyone put these on? Im open to many suggestions on the exhaust system.

I have been looking into smoking/tint/paint the taillights. I know that i could get pulled over so maybe the tint film is the best option. Suggestions? Anyone recommend a site. I found that XPEL does head light protection but I could not find anywhere on their site where they sell the product for taillights.

Do they have a chip for 04 CS? Where can I find info on this?

Air intake system worth the cost? Found here:

I am also looking into body kits. Just testing the water as I know that this is very expensive as well. Looking on getting some info (companies, pricing etc)

Was also looking at painting my calipers. This kit ok? I dont want to pay 300 or so to get it painted but interested in other kits if they are available. If it fades, i can just repaint right?

I am very eager to hear the experts opinion (thats you guys!). Please give me any suggestions you can think of. This car is pretty much factory (minus the 22s and stereo/ipod connection) I have owned the car since 04, bought it new and I am looking for a change. I have waited long enough, help me make this a badass 04 CS.

I guess I am in the same boat as you. Have had my 04CS for a couple years now and ready to do something. I have just joined the forums and learned a few things. First and foremost, nothing for Porsches is cheap, and to go the cheap route will just, well, cheapen it :-)

To try and answer some of your questions:

Color preference on the rims is up to you but I would say gloss; since you have a gray car. If it were black then flat would look awesome. Depends on the wheel also. In my opinion, any wheel that has a lip or chrome on the edge just doesn't go with our cars too well.

To lower it, don't buy anything less than the KW Variant 3 or V3 coilover suspension. It will improve the ride due to the adjustable damping and rebound valving. Springs will only lower it 1 to 1.5 inches. The KW are adjustable from slammed to what the CS is now. This will set you back around $3500.00 installed.

Exhaust really only has 2 options or combination of options in my opinion: The Fabspeed CAT Bypass pipes in conjunction with the Cargraphics Exhaust or Fabspeed exhaust. By listening to sound clips on Youtube my preference is the Fab/Cargraphics combo. Use your own tips at first to save some money. They just clamp on. Both combos without tips I think run around $1700.00. CTTS tips will run another $600.00

Get some clear side markers they will really make a difference.

I am about to pull the trigger on a couple mods and my order of priority would be:

1. Suspension (lower it) and keep my stock 19"'s for now. 22 with yours will look killer
2. BMC air filters or K&N. I have K&N and don't expect any difference. Only with and exhaust will you notice a difference.
3. Exhaust. The ones mentioned above will gain you about 10hp but only in conjunction with the cat bypass and airfilters
4 . Wheels.

Hope some of this helps.
Chris

If you already have wheels, I would go with the lowering as well. We have used the KW V3 coilovers to get the maximum drop (springs only lower 1-1.5" while KW can drop 2.5"). The good thing about the KW is that even with the perches screwed all the way down, it still rides smooth.

Here is a pic of one of our customer's Cayennes with the KWs installed. You can see how it looks with the 22" on.

If you need a price quote for the KW, please let us know. FYI the MSRP on the kit is $3650.

Thanks!

That looks awesome. I'm looking for a replacement for my Audi S4 Avant daily driver. How does the Cayenne handle with the KW's lowered all the way? Close to what I feel in my Avant now?
