it sounds like there is knocking right under the plastic cover which says 4.5 and also there is constant knocking coming from the bottom of the engine----tuck--tuck--tuck---tuck---tuck----the sound can be heard from the wheel wells while suv is idling----it has got 300 miles left under warranty----could it be coils--------

Bring to the dealer ASAP, before the warranty is out.
It doesn't matter if it's only 300 miles till waranty is out, warranty is warranty. Should be covered by warranty !!!

lovethesport - I think my cayenne S makes the same noise too... although not as loud? It could be your recording volume but it's relatively faint on mine and never seemed like anything to worry about... the car has always had noisey injectors since day one and it's been to the dealer many times for inspection/service

btw i'm in toronto too ... with our deep freeze, I've notice it's a bit noisier than usual

thanks due--the noise actually started when the temp went like -30 3 days ago----to me it sounds like a loose piston

Yea, a TON of new creaking and rattling has appeared with this week's -30 degree temps... lots of new sounds to look forward to every day

When I head out this afternoon I'll give the engine another listen - but like I said, the sound in your clip seems normal to me... just a bit louder than usual?

Could be recording volume... but if you're really worried and/or the sound is an accurate reproduction of actual volume, bring it in to get checked out.
