Trade in or Not!!!

I was at my dealer eyeing a turbo. I asked how much they would give me on trade for my Cayenne S. It's pretty loaded and MSRP was $68K. They are offering a $47K trade in allowance towards the turbo. The car is MY03, 1.5 years old with 23,000 miles. Basically a 21K hit. I know that's alot. My question...Is it better to take this offer now since things will only get worse on the value fast or keep it and drive it into the ground...Just curious if the trade-in value they offer is reasonable for the current Cayenne market. Thanks in advance.

I say keep it. The value of the turbo will drop as fast if not faster than the S. Used turbo's are selling for 60-70 grand right now. Not worth it!

Well he started with msrp for an '04. $93,000. I know he needs to do better than that. What do you think is a reasonable discount??? I want them to make some money, but not soak me...

Yeah I know...As has been recently suggested to me, I need not think of the value...rather think of it as consumption...hmmmm

That kind of helps. Either way, I would keep it a long time. My current S has that occassional steering vibration issue that is annoying and I am not sure I want to deal with it for the next few years or so. I suppose I could trade it in for a new S, but that seems kind of pointless. It is clear that 450HP would be a blast and the air ride would be nice too....f-ing cars!!!! argghhh

I toyed with the idea of trading my 04 CS for an 05 CTT. Was quoted $48,500 Trade-in with a $6,000K discount on the CTT. With my 05 996 TT "S" due in December, I felt I have made a sufficient contribution to the Porsche 04 profit.

While not a first hand report, this board has had reports of discounts up to 15% (full frontend holdback discount). Use the Porsche locator and you will see there are a lot of 04 CTT's in dealer inventory. If your dealer won't negociate, I am confident one of the dealers with HUGE inventories WILL ! Use the zip code method & search out 500 miles. Pick five major metro zip codes and you will see virtually every Porsche dealers invenotry. Will take some time but you will be the winner.

Here's the new TT pricing for 2004

Base Retail Price (MSRP) $88,900
Base Invoice Price $77,657
Destination Charge $765

I think 88 on a 93 msrp truck would be fair in lieu of almost 200K I gave them in 2003. What do you all think?

$5K discount on an 04 CTT is not enough, especially if they are only allowing wholesale value on your CS. A dealer with a large inventory will quickly discount 10% with wholesale tradein for an interested and qualified buyer.

$5K to $7.5K discount on an 05 CTT would be fair and normal. If you are comfortable with a $5K discount, go for the 05 as you will take the same hit initially and the 04 will have a secondary hit due to MY. You will also benefit from the later version of programming in the ECU and transmission. Most bug fixes are in place in the 05.

the mark up is somewhere around 12~15k depends on opts i guess.
