dumb question! - Diff-Locks

i have an 08 CS...how many diff locks does it have? when you start the engine, all 3 of the lights light up on the diff-lock selector switch.....
front axle - L-R
front to back lock
Back Axle - L-R....

but when i engage them, i can only lock in (light up) the front 2...'

is it an option to be able to lock the back axle?

no, that's an option that you need to have if you need it. rear axle locking is not standard..

Great to see someone talking about the Cayenne's dif-locks.

Doesnt' happen often, it's usually what kind of 22s to put on.

After all it's a fantastic off-road car.

Yes rear lock is not standard but optional.

How hard is it to add it in after the fact? I assume the controls are wiring are there, just matter of adding in a rear locking diff right?

Not sure about how complicated or easy it would be to add but I am sur it's feasible.

I will have to agree. The cayenne is a bit more complex; too much electronics control. I thought it would be possible.

I met a guy who installed a LSD (limited slip dif) on his SL55 at a Benz event 2 years ago so maybe I said why not on the Cayenne.

But no, you're right.

i don't think there is any cayenne with rear axle lock around, it only comes with custom orders, and I think there are prolly only 10-20 of them present in USA

thanks for replies

Thanks for the info.... to the question - "why do i need it"

I dont today, driving around Houston! - but just thought that one day, when up to the axles in sand, stuck on the beach, with the tide coming in may not be the best time to find out thats it doesnt work or isnt there!

I used to drive a Landcruiser at work, so know when you lock all 4 wheels, you just cant stop it!
