Cayenne Transsyberia vs G55 - Initial Impressions

At the risk of getting flamed I thought I might start a thread talking about the off road prowess of the latest Porsche and my new ride. I come from an outstanding vehicle for off roading and with 600 miles on the odo I took transsyberia out for light off roading (stream and pebble strewn wet inclines). It performed well though the body was not as stiff as my G wagen. Also of interest was the relatively mild rubber that these vehicles come with (Eagle LS2 255/55/18). Diff locks were flawless and the suspension easily better than the G. The power was not in the same ballpark but overall it is acceptable off road. On road it wins hands down. Thoughts?

Nice! I dig it. Love that light bar! You might need some tires if you're going to do significant offroading, General has a nice offroad/onroad tire.

I think your comparing apples to oranges. For example, you talk about a power difference (with the MB having more) which is obvious since its a 55, plus I do see a little Kleeman badge on the back which might have something to do with that.
Also the transsyberia was designed with offroad in mind, if you want power, get a CTT or a CTTS.

I've once considered G55 and then G500 and then decided to go with CS instead.

I still *love* G55 but it's not so practical to tell you the truth, at least for me, I failed to justify to my boss at home.
At the same time she preferred CS than G-wagon.

The comparison- is valid as both are designed for off road. The Cayenne is just a much better road car. The 55 is a truck. A very powerful truck. The CTT is really not a fair comparison as the nonlinearity of the power delivery make it untenable off roard. W!ill change to BFG AT KO 265/60/18 by winter.

I like the G55, that vehicle just wants to rip the rubber off the wheels and race everything... I would be in jail by the end of the day. Hell, I was pulled over 30 minutes into a leisurely drive
