HP upgrades for TT
Are the updates to ECU's static by manufacturer or are they customized to what you have upgraded in the car? I seen quite a few posts and a bit confused.
How can the ECU be updated by manufacturer A and you have various parts from other manufacturer on the car, how can they possible get it right??? When I had sport bikes I would buy a computer mods that allowed me to make changes at various curves, go ride the bike come back adjust again, and so on. Change a part, have the option to tweak again and wrap it all up with a dyno (pen to paper of what was accomplished for that actual bike).
Here you are getting someone’s ECU remap, which you know nothing about nor if its right for your car w/ or w/out mod’s. Every aftermarket manufacturer will swear there upgrade is the one...
I don’t wish to pick on anyones product, but why is EVo’s $2K and upsolute $700+ as an example (I know I don’t know).
I just picked up a '06 CTTS, I want it as quiet as possible to stock (will be ok with a bit more sound) but crank out more HP/torque that I know it’s capable of.
I am still in research mode. Looking at 1) upgrading factory air filters (K&N or BMC), 2) upgrading factory air inlet (IPD, Techart, Gemballa), 3) either sport cats or bypass pipe (not sure who makes the sport cats) 4) Not sure what to do about the muffler, is there a quite free flowing units out there? And lastly an ECU remap (this being the hardest to select after #4 the muffler)
I noticed that both Techart and Gemballa (both respectable companies) change the air inlet, but in there own way but neither change the factory air box were the air filters reside, just upgrade to more free flowing filters. So not sure why the need for the Evoms V-flow setup… does any one care to share (honestly) on the upkeep on the Evoms V-flows. It seems to me you will get a bunch more debris coming in, additional noise that’s just not needed (again just my thoughts).

93 Octane and 100 Octane Numbers stock exhaust
493hp/544lb-ft on 93
558hp/590lb-ft on 100
With an exhaust including secondar deletes
512hp/548lb-ft on 93
575hp/597lb-ft on 100
APR's programming makes these numbers using the least amount of boost as possible and more with the timing and fuel delivery to allow the engine to do most of the work. More boost and fuel means more power but also creates more heat faster which means you get heat soaked faster. Less boost lower intake temps longer turbo life and consistant power over time.
Stock, 91 or 93, 100, Valet, Security, Anti-theft, Check Engine Light Erase Program, are all loaded to your ECU for one price. You can access these programs with your cruise control switch. No flash loader needed after the ECU has been flashed with all the programs.
Price is $2499

Let me check to see if APR has it on their server. They might just have it for the "non s" model or they have it for the "non s" and it just brings it up to the same amount of power. For example Mercedes has the same thing. They have the 600 models and the 65 models both of which have the same V12 Bi Turbo Engine but the 65 has a little more power similar to the 955TT and the 955TTS. When we flash both, the numbers are very similar to each other afterwards.
I have an 04' TT, put a fabspeed in 2 years ago, $ 2100. noticed hp gains but at top rpm a lot of surging until the next gear kicked in?? 40k miles on it and love it! Put an Upsolute in my 04' 996TT, hardly noticed anything?? Guess you get what you pay for.
2Muchtime,
Question, how did the purchase of the Upsolute ECU remapping go down for you? You just called them and said you wanted the remapping for you car? did you meantioned you had a fabspeed exhaust? did they ask any questions? etc...?
Did the surging in the at high rpm go away at least once you upgrade the ECU (via Upsolute)?
Do you believe the surging was do to your limiter kicking in and lack of back pressure (and not shifting fast enought)?
Very interested in your experience.

the Upsolute was for the car, the 996tt has Billy Boat race headers and B & B GT Race exhaust, cold air intake (for now) I did tell the tech what upgrades the car had so I assume he programmed accordingly, the fabspeed chip was for my 04' Cayenne turbo, nothing else was modified, Fabspeed was told that when the ecu was shipped to them, my mechanic suggested to Fabspeed the car but I told him about the surging and decided to try Upsolute $ 850.00. The surging is only at 7000 rpms, haven't tried higher octane or DV's to see if it would help, my mechanic said he talked to Fabspeed about this and they said there were small problems in the beginning but they have worked them out, still very happy with Fabspeed's upgrade, the cayenne has 78,000 miles on it and put the chip in at 32,000. I feel I got my moneys worth, I do drive every moment very hard averaging 5k miles on a set of tires and wouldn't have it any other way.
