I drive my TT hard, in the city I average 15 - 16, on the highway playing around between 70 and 90 mph I will average 21 -22mpg, have the fabspeeb chip, cold air intakes, to me that's not bad for how much fun your having. I went through tires every 5000 miles until I switched to the 4oo rated ply tires, I'am still on the same set with 12000 miles and still have half thread left, (400 ply are a little louder but comfort seems the same) just a FYI

My $.02 says the 'S'. I had a base and it was waayy underpowered - almost dangerous at times. There's too much mass that needs to be moved and the 6 didn't cut it. The other argument against the base is the depreciation - whereas someone else took the hit on the S or TT, you would be hit hard with the new one in your scenario. I ended up moving from the Cayenne to a Range Rover Sport supercharged...take a look at it...more amenities; more luxurious interior; and still a sporty exterior. It's a great complement to a 911!

Whatever your choice, enjoy it!

Been O.O.T. for a few days, thanks for all the great input.

The V6 probably won't cut it, I know. The torque curve IS pretty flat from 2500-5000, but there most likely is just not enough torque @ 273 lb. ft. max. I'm going to drive the V6 & S to answer that question.

Any thoughts on turbo lag on the CTT??? I've driven an '04 CTT a few times and the lag always bothered me ALOT. I don't know if anything has changed w/ the '05, '06 CTTs.

Thumbs up

There is quite a bit of turbo lag in the 04', however after 3 years of driving it I find if you use the tiptronic, start from red light in first, then second, etc, etc, the lag is pretty much gone providing you keep the rpm up high enough, even going into the corner, down shift to second before the corner staying mid 20mph and you'll shoot out like a rocket, tons of fun, try it!

Drive them all - After the TT you cannot go back to either the V8 or the V6

Cool

CPO 2006 Turbo S
Excellent Warranty
Excellent Vehicle
Zero Problems

The 2006 Turbo S will be harder to find, but I am sure the Turbo is still far better than a new base Cayenne. My CPO warranty is just like a new warranty and lasts until 2012. For the same price as a new, base Cayenne, there is no doubt I made the right choice. Let somebody else take the $60,000 - $75,000 three year depreciation and enjoy the ride. I actually enjoy using the turbo lag as an advantage. Once it kicks in, hold on.

I bought my S new in '06. I like the car a lot, but if I could do it over, I'd wait 2 years to get a used Turbo S.

Exclamation

IMO) get the highest model you can afford as long as its an 08+. Someone else already said that you should be able to find an '08 GTS in a month in your price range, but i wouldn't be surprised if you start seeing '08 CTTs in your price range in a couple months.

I was faced with a similar decision with the exception I wasn't considering a new 6 cylinder because I tow. I agree the 6 is underpowerd, but I think the S would do ok. The turbo will have the air suspension which rides nicer than the steel supsension. I haven't driven an S, but the dealer gave me a 6 cylinder loaner while they certified my TT. I can tell you the turbo will be more fun to drive. You can chip the turbo for about another $1000-$2000 and have the thing up over 500hp and near 550 ft/lbs of torque. The brakes on the turbo are also better. MY 06 TT I just picked up has 33,000 miles on it and the car drives like it's new. I would drive the S and the Turbo and then decide, but I'm pretty sure once you drive the turbo, you're going to want it. The only real difference/downfall of going with an 06 Turbo is that the Nav system isn't as nice as the new one, but the car is so much more fun to drive you probably won't think about that much. And if you find one with low mileage, you'll have more mileage on the CPO than you would with a new factory warranty...

If I have only one car, I will choose the CTT. Since you have a 996TT as your fun car, I think a 2008 Cayenne S with warranty will complement it very nicely.
+1
I agree 100%

TT all the way. "New" gets old real quick... But power NEVER gets old.

Plus, if you're just gonna get the NA Cayenne you might as well just save your cash & get a Touraeg. The TT is on another level.
