Confused about rotor sizes

I have an '06 Cayenne S (955) and need to replace all four rotors.

I understand that there are two front rotor sizes - 350mm and 330mm.

Is there a rule of thumb around which rotor size is on my car? Do all Turbo's and S' have the 350mm?

Thanks in advance

Strife,

If you are looking for a good brake package for a great deal, this guy sells a lot to the Touareg guys, and he also sells the kits for the Cayenne's. I think that the brakes on my Egg are the same as on your Pepper.

I don't have any affiliation with him other then his brakes are on my Touareg now.

Do you have Red or Black calipers?... Most S's have RED - If so you need the larger diameter.

If by the off chance you have the SILVER finish, you also need the larger of the two.

I have silver calipers... which is too bad... I didn't know most S' have red calipers

So silver = 350mm as well?

Sounds good... do you know if they carry non-OEM rotors and pads?

I'm really interested in a set of Zimmerman cross drilled rotors and Hawk HPS pads... the OEM brake dust is killing me!

This is from the Rennlist site on the DIY for the front brake rotors.

"Due to manufacturing differences we have seen, you must determine the size of the rotors on your vehicle prior to ordering. The easiest way to figure out your brake size (other than actually measuring the diameter of your rotors) is to look at the caliper. It should have "17ZR" or "18ZR" cast into the body. 17ZR=330mm (black caliper), 18ZR=350mm (red caliper). You can probably see this with the wheel mounted to the vehicle, but you may have to remove the wheel - but it's much less trouble (and cheaper) than returning a set of incorrect rotors/pads."

Here is the DIY

Brake Job

I have a CS with silver calipers. I have the 18RZ caliper. The "18RZ" is cast right on top of the caliper. If you look at the third picture down, you will see the 18ZR casting on the caliper.

I just did the rears yesterday. Very simple. I stayed with OEM. I know its alot of brake dust. When the wheels get dirty, its time to wash the CS.

Enjoy!

The threads old but just for those looking here.... you can find it on your build codes sticker in the spare wheel compartment. There is another option for the TT, Porsche build code1LP = 18+ brakes they are the biggest to fit 18" wheels at 368mm and they are thicker at 36mm.
