I'm pretty sure the fluid does not have to be changed until 250000 km's.

CHANGE YOUR FLUID.....

its the best thing you can do to your car after engine maintinance.
just use the porsche fluid as its a very specific type.
your car will run smoother and the changes will be seemless.
i was so supprised at the difference.
dont forget the filter and gasket also.

easy job with a ramp.

I had the dealer change my 04 cayenne S transmission fluid/filter for routine maintanance at 42k miles. I got it back and hard shifting! The trans was flawless prior to thier fluid change, and now "BANG!" into second gear once a day. Sometimes 5th to 6th on a lesser scale. Reverse too, but im normally not accelerating much in reverse so its not as noticable.
Any ideas? too much fluid, not enough fluid, other?
Any help?
The dealer says to drive it around and let it "learn."
The shift/BANG is severe on occasion and will lead to failure if not addressed.

I recetly noticed this too with my 5S. It occurs periodically when i drive aggresive and between 5 to 6. I am not sure what to do either. I was thinking about getting fluid changed.

mine was not doing it at all- worked flawless - until i did the routine maintanance (trans fluid change.) Im wondering is it low or too full on fluid or did they "re-map" the trans computer to make it do this?

I believe that was a rather common complaint with the '04 models and there was a range of VIN#'s where a service bulletin was issued on replacing the transmission valve assembly body when this happened.

It also would be worth checking the fluid level, perhaps low fluid level might cause this if it allowed slippage before the clutches engaged on gear changes.

I would be all over the dealer on it since it didn't do it before, and they fixed it until it broke..

This was a long time ago but I am looking for some long term performance info. There’s some talk of changing transmission fluid being actually bad for the transmission and that it will cause problems on a high mileage trans. What’s your experience?

Guys, it's a known issue with the VALVE body. The transmission is built by AISIN. I get a 5-4 bang under heavy acceleration and a few other annoying things but otherwise fine. They were manufactured with inferior pistons for starters and they wear out the bores/pistons. The easiest fix seems to replace the valve body and you're only out a little over a grand in parts until you send your core unit back to where you bought it from..

It seems you can source one from here, I need to call them. I have questions.

RevMax Converters

I've also attached a transmission file for ya'll to read.
