Congrats! Hope you like the new sound!

Which horns did you go with? Did you replace both horns or only one?

How long did the install take you?

Does anyone one know if on the GTS if I need to go through the wheel liners to access the original horns? I assume my engine bay configuration is similar to the S.

I replaced both horns. Just standard small red snail shell shaped ones ( slightly bigger than originals) The first one took me about 50 minutes ( trouble accessing the small length of wires visible) and the second one about 10 minutes ! I removed the front fog lamp on the second one, which makes access to the wiring much easier.
I should think the GTS is the same setup as the S.

Are they direct bolt on? do you have to add any relay or special wiring? will these also change the alarm sound on the car or just for honking? Do you have the link the the horns? Thanks.

I ordered one Hella horn. It has two trumpets, but the two trumpets replace only one horn.

How do I disconnect the second horn that is not getting a replacement? I simply want to disengage it but need to make sure by doing so that it doesn't thow a warning light.

there are no warning lights connected or concerned with the horns.
you will have no dramas there.

This is the view of the wheel arch screws removed and the view behind the panel. Notice the original horn removed from its bracket above. This method however gives you very limited access to the wiring. Removing the fog light( very easy) gives much better access and view.

So I finally got my air horns installed last weekend. I had my mechanic do the install....took about 30 mins per side.

I ended up replacing both stock horns on the GTS with Hella dual trumpet air horns. They work great and sound great, BUT....I keep blowing a fuse when I press the horn for longer than 1-2 seconds.

It's fuse #16, and it's a 20amp fuse. I suppose the amperage with the two air horns is too high for the 20amp circuit/fuse.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy this problem? The horns themselves do not have fuses as they were wired directly to the oem wiring.

Is is possible to replace the 20amp fuse with a 30amp fuse? Excuse my ignorance, but I'm not an electrical engineer, so I don't know if this is even possible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

i had excatly the same problem, there are 2 remadies.
firstly you can simply uprate the fuse, i did and it works just fine.
secondly you can add relays (the proper solution)
both work fine.

good luck.

Awesome.....so I can simply change the 20amp fuse in the fuse box near the driver's door to a 30amp fuse?

As long as by doing so doesn't screw anything up, I prefer to go that route, as accessing the horns and installing a relay is a pain in the a$$.

Please confirm and I'll switch out the fuse.

Thanks ONE234!!!!!!

thats all i did.
for piece of mind when you change over the fuse leave the fuse cover off and watch the fuse as you sound the horn for 5 secs or so, that way you will see if there is any dramas.
im not sure of the current surge of both your horns but it worked/works perfectly for me.

give it a go, its only a fuse and that will give before anything else.

I want a scary sounding horn! Mine now is broken, and sound pathetic. People laugh when they see a matte black cayenne with a weak sounding horn. My friends horn on his CS is also broken, but his has a deep grunty sound, so he does not want to fix it

haha. I had the same problem too. Honking my horn was just downright embarrassing in traffic and had no affect. So I bought some big mothers (with the red body, not sure the brand, Hella maybe) and installed them and they are loud as hell and provide the intended message now.

My alarm horn is still embarrassing though!! LOL oh well.

Marco Tornado & Marco Hurricane

What are installed is one Marco Tornado & one Marco Hurricane, together. The tornado is a 112 db dual-tone horn using frequencies 520 & 660 Hz and the Hurricane is a 110 db single tone horn using a frequency of 310 Hz. Together they make for a very loud tri-tone horn.

I used the original horn wire as the trigger to an 80A relay along with a 40A resettable automotive breaker. The relay is fed by a larger gauge wire that comes from the jump post under the hood on the driver's side and it grounded to the ground rod in that same area. The heavy gauge red 12v feed wire goes through the 40A breaker then to the 80A relay. Since I used the OEM wire a the relay trigger, that wire is already fused and then the horns are fused by the 40A breaker.

Horns mounted and wired in factory location

40 A Resettable Breaker (small fuse holder you also see here is for my Battery Tender hook-up, not the horns circuit)

80A SPDT Relay that feeds the horns
