Performace gains from an aftermarket intake plenium
Performace gains from an aftermarket intake plenium
I have been reading on different performance upgrades for my CTT and came across the IPD Intake Plenum. I get the concept...less air turbulence due to the y-shape vs stock t-shape in the plastic one = more air...but 32HP?? Does that sound right?
It seems easy enough: why did Porsche not design it this way to begin with, especially since it's not a high cost redesign?
955 Cayenne Turbo Intake Plenum 03-07
HP Gains: 32
Torque Gains: 25
Part# 95600
Retail Price: $995
Anyway, has anyone tried one of these? If the HP gains are correct, it seems worth the $995...
Thoughts / experiences?? Maybe a great combo with the Evo V-Flow ram air...

The concept seems right, but the gains seem a bit optimistic to me. In a N/A motor I can see how this would benefit more but with a force-fed turbo motor I can't see how it would benefit you so much that you gain 30hp/tq. I'm not an engineer so who knows.
Here is some additional information regarding the IPD Plenums for Cayenne Turbos. These do add very noticeable gains in HP/TQ, better boost response, better throttle response and an improved driving experience. The IPD product will also not break like some of the factory plastic plenums. The CTT on the following dyno information was running a Cargraphic Exhaust which doesn't add much power but does add a fantastic sound. Peak to Peak HP/TQ is solid with the biggest gains at around 5600 RPM. On all Plenum purchases, you have a 30-Day 100% Money Back Guarantee which means a "no-risk" evaluation of the product. The IPD Plenum pricing has been reduced from what was posted above. You can view revised pricing here, thanks: http://stuttgartperformance.rpmware....s/g-58129.aspx

Hi 2muchtime, it's very possible your local tuner/dealer of choice in Florida will be able to offer you a special price on the IPD product. Feel free to let me know your exact location and I can forward you the authorized RSS / IPD dealers in your immediate area which may be able to offer you a forum member discount. Thanks.

I have one and didn't notice a huge in-the-seat difference in power but the driveability was improved. It also seemed to smooth out the engine response after gear changes when just driving around. I also picked up close to 1 mpg better fuel economy in my mostly city driving. So nothing significant for me, but I like it from a daily driving standpoint.

Thanks for the input, do you have any other modifications? exhaust, 2nd bypass pipes, tune, air intake?
Fabspeed Bypass Pipes, IPD inlet, Evoms V-flow, Powerchip tune
I'd eventually like to add a good exhaust system, chip/ECU (not sure which one yet), larger intercoolers (to help it run cooler), the IPD plenum, and Evo v-flow & BMS filters.
