We had some much snow last winter my car was stuck in my mechanics shop for a month. I didn't mind too much, as it was free heated storage.

I was running M+S tires on my Touareg in snow like that, these vehicles are awesome in this type of weather.

Seano is infamous around these parts
Snow tires: Nokians

Tried out Nokian's this year for the first time on the '04 S ... had used Blizzaks previously and loved the traction, but they felt a bit soft in the corners.

I live in the bay area and run up to Tahoe every other weekend. I run the Nokian WR G2 SUV - it is their "All Season" V rated tire (which for a Finnish tire compares straight up to other winter tires. Its got the all-important snowflake/mtn symbol... Their winter tire is studded!) ... seem to run better on the dry than Blizzaks and the Pirellis I used to have on the Cayenne. I have them mounted to a set of 18's - so not crazy wide (255s) and decent side wall for the snow driving.

Really happy with the grip and stability - have had them in moderate deep stuff, but (most typical) lots of plowed/packed on the road snow and ice. Tried some 35mph panic stops and was very impressed -

No matter what type of 4wd system/electronics - ultimately the tires will make the difference. AWD + Summer tires = All Wheel Drift
