Map updates for '04 NAV

What is the least expensive route to update my '04 CS NAV? Would copies work or are they encrypted copywrite? Got disks?

I'm not sure you're going to get anyone here to help you pirate nav updates... Copies would probably work but it's certainly illegal - I'd suggest ebay or torrent though if you're going to go that way.

I don't think it's pirating if I pay for legal cds. I bought the Cayenne, paid extra for the NAV, found out in order to work it needs the cds and dealer will not pay for them.

if you bought the car new, and paid for the nav, then you already have the CD's - if you have lost them that's not the dealer's responsibility, if you bought the car used and it didn't come with NAV CD's that might be debateable but the means don't justify the end. Pirating copyrighted material is illegal no matter what you think.

If you pay for the CD's the original update CD's it's legal, and copying them for yourself is YOUR right under fair use - copying them and selling them, or buying copies is illegal no matter how you slice it.

when was the last time anyone paid for microsoft patches or enhancements? what about for other software titles? i have noticed that much of the software i purchase has at least a couple of years of updates at zero cost..many of purchased titles have lifetime updates for free.

i found out the other day that there are roads in my local metro that have been around for years and years and arent on my 2006 nav cd...these nav systems arent innexpensive to begin with and the thought of another maintenance program to the tune of 300 bucks every couple of years makes me scream.

it is a wonder that more copying isnt taking place and after experiencing roads that have been around since the 60's but not on my nav dvd, i have FAR less objections to copying. now, i'd pay a resonable amount of money (nowhere near 300 btw) for updates in my metro area but please dont make me pay through the nose for nation wide updates when i really only care about local updates...

The map coverage is pretty crappy, but that's to be expected with Porsche. I've found that the multimedia in P-cars is lacking when compared with similarly priced vehicles.

I agree that the nav updates should be less expensive and also offered as a free download to registered owners.

Perhaps a top executive at Porsche will read this!
