Entry and Drive auto lock function

I recently discovered that my automatic lock function on the Entry and Drive system may not be working. I was out in the driveway without the keys but needed something from the car so I thought I'd try the door anyway.... and it opened. So either the transmitter has a very long range or the auto lock is not working despite being selected on the main menu in the car. It doesn't make sense that Porsche would design an activation range greater than 10' feet, otherwise you could be parked beside your office or a store and be inside all day without the car locking. Anyone know what the range is for the auto lock function? how close do you have to be before the doors lock/unlock?

what year is your Cayenne? I too have the same option on my '04 CTT. Without the keys with or on you, you cannot unlock the car. The range is very short (maybe 2 feet). And, you cannot unlock the car automatically until you place your hand on the door handle. It's doesn't sense that you are around the car and automatically unlocks on its own.

Have the same problem. I know from other treads a lot of gremlins can be attributed to an old battery. Even though the battery checks out and is within limits, weird things begin to happen. What year is your Cayenne?

its a 2006 CTT. It seemed to work initially. The battery is supposed to me new (according to the guy i bought it from).
