Giving more skins to 285-35-22 ....

Hi,

I know that many cayenne running on 22 are running 285-35-22. Now, where I live, we frenquently encouter crater, not potholes, that can destroy anythng thinnner than 1.5 inch or almost ... Can the cayenne run on thicker tires on 22 " ? I know it will be oversised, make speedo running off all affecting handling etc.. but still, I want to know if it possible and up to wich point...

Thanks

you can go up to a 285/40-22. I believe Yokohama makes a tire for that size. (Parada Spec-X).

Neilm,

Thanks, but are you 100% positive I will not get any rubbing issue with that size ?

Bo - it'll be a very slight change. The side walls will be just a tad higher which will help with your craters over there. If your Cayenne is not lowered, then you won't have any issues.

No. I'm running an even lower profile tire than yours. 295/30/22 Toyo Proxes.

Hey.. checked out 285.40.22 and it is like 8.7% overall taller than 275/40/20... Almost 3 inch difference.. I am so afraid it will rub badly if I drive the suv in Low position mode...

Not even noticable to the driver. Go for it.

Price will be heavy though I'm thinking..

Not to sure what you are saying... are you talking about the 35 profile or 40 profile ? What is not noticeable ? and why for the driver only ? I am talking about rubbing issue etc...

cheers
Bo

I'm thinking of going this route too. I feel with the 22" rims, the rubber is too thin for an SUV this beefy.
