Accessing battery

Having some trouble getting the seat to tip back when accessing battery. I have followed the manual but the seat only wants to lift up an inch or so and then won't budge. Any tricks in getting the seat in the right position maybe? Judging from the snapping noise the torx bolts made when I undid them the battery has never been serviced (its an 06 CTT).

Take all the plastic pieces off the bottom of the seat. They should just slide back. Once you have the trim off start moving the seat forward and lifting the seat up. You can't move the seat forward too much because it won't clear the steering wheel. Once you clear the steering wheel just keep moving the seat forward and the whole seat should continue to tip back.

My 06S has a sealed Varta battery--no service required.
