Oil Burner
If you're still under warranty get it into the dealer ... they're replacing my engine and it's fully covered. I had to push and they monitored my oil consumption but at the end of the day it appears they're doing the right thing. I'll know in a couple of weeks for sure.
hopefully this will be my last post on this subject - just got my car back with a replacement engine courtesy of Porsche. Process took about a month with the car laid up for diagnostics, waiting for the new engine, installation and road test. Dealer was great to work with and the finished the job off with a complementary full detailing. Wish the process was much shorter but all in all I'm delighted with how Porsche and the dealer resolved this. For those who are unsure abut their consumption all I can suggest is working closely with your dealer if you're under warranty. I was lazy about it and just kept grumbling when the oil light came on, but once I got focused on the problem the dealer did too.
^^^^^glad everything got taken care of for you and you're happy.
I noticed my oil is a little low after about 1000 miles of driving...That reminds me I better top it off. I dont use Mobile1. I'm using Eneos 5w30.
And no wonder why the recommended oil changes are 1 year...adding a quart every 600 miles is like having new oil all the time, hahah

Be diligent about it. The first reaction will be that "they consume a lot of oil, it's normal". They will want to know about oil change history etc. They will also want to track your consumption which is a PIA. One time they wanted me to bring it once I'd driven 600 miles after they topped off the oil but I was in another state at the 600 mile mark (the oil light came on at 610 miles) but that caused a whole restart of the monitoring. What really pushed the dealer to deal with it was when I had showed them the cloud of smoke left behind after a hard acceleration. They video'd with a phone and sent it to Porsche and then things started happening. Good luck

Thanks again!
If you leave a cloud of smoke on a hard acceleration you have a problem and need to show the dealer the cloud. I also had clear residue on my left tailpipes but that didn't seem to trigger action.
How many miles were on your engine before replacement - i get grumpy this time of year remembering all my conversations with Porsche USA - and spending $12K..grrrr
Same here :-)
I know this is an old post but I have same issue with my 06 CTT drinking oil like a fish. about 1 quart a month. I usually buy 4 quarts and keep them in the rear compartment so when the light comes on I can refill it. Hope its normal thats what the dealer said. I notice no oil drips but did see a little oil on the left intercooler. Took it to dealer and tech said that a little bit was normal (WTF?). Been running like that for some time and all seems well.
Mine would blow a cloud of smoke when on stomped it ... if not from a standstill then always on shift to 2nd gear. If you have that same symptom, show it to the dealer. This is what prompted the serious investigation by PNA. Otherwise, general response from the deal is that it's normal. FYI - my oil light just came on after 1,400 miles with new engine. I'm torn between being delighted that it was more than 3 tankfuls and shocked that I'm delighted when I consider the amount of oil even this reduced consumption is. Good luck.
It uses oil, of that there is no doubt. I've got 90k on my '05 and it uses very more than when it was new. Change oil more frequently than recommended and you'll be fine. Drive on.
Need your help Russ
I don't have enough posts to message you. Wondering if you might enlighten me as to what steps I might continue with concerning my 2005 Cayenne S, and scored cylinders. Porsche initially said no (given) to goodwill. Dealer went to bat, and I was informed that again...they offered no help. Not sure where to go next. $14.5 for a short block and labor. My Cayenne is also one of the 1500 or so, where the rings were put in upside down. Started with a tick, now is at a point I just figured would cause more damage. Anything you could contribute, would be great. Names, numbers...whatever. My e-mail is shunker@neffco.com.
