Oil Burner

I'm going through roughly a quart of Mobil 1 with each tank of gas. No drips on the floor. 06TTS with about 35k miles.

I've seen the posts that state these cars consume oil but it seems excessive to me. Anyone have similar experience and did something to resolve? I'm not too concerned about the oil but I have to believe somethings not right.

Something seems a miss, I would get it checked over for peace of mind and to hopefully reduce your expenses.

My 05 CTT uses some oil, and always has, but nothing compared to what to you're experiencing. I agree, you may have a problem.

I might add a quart a month, maybe a little more as I get closer to oil changes but not that much, definitely have it checked out.

Ditto, get it checked - maybe a turbo oil seal?

just off with the dealer (now i understand stealer). he isn't done inspecting but suggested I may not really be topping up the oil when I think i am because the dip stick gives a different readying depending on where the oil is in the system - i found that entertaining. Also said CTTS can burn as much as a quart every 672 miles - I find that a bit excessive. Wants to change my oil - I expect that will be stupid expensive but will let him do it just so we can get past the oil change discussion.

Will report next update after they finish the diagnostic.

1 quart / two tanks for us

Our 06 CTT is burning about 1 quart every two fill ups, and our dealer was not surprised and indicated to not be concerned. Sounds like many of the turbos are heavy users. Ours seems to collect oil in the air intake over time under light use - and then is available for an instant smoke screen when performing a full throttle get-away

Cool I guess I got lucky

I bought my 06 CTTS one year ago and purchased 3 quarts of Mobil 1 at Walmart the day after I bought it. Fortunately, I only needed to add one quart after 10 months (9,000 miles). I guess I am set for the last two years of my CPO as far as oil goes.

The variance of oil consumption is not just a Porsche phenomenon; I have read about it in almost all automotive forums over my years of lurking.

Adding oil every other fill up does seem excessive. Fortunately, mine is my daily driver and travels enough to get up to proper engine temp by the time I get to work.

I found this out yesterday when I floored it and looked un my rear view mirror to see I had filled the roadway with bluish white smoke. It was embarrassing!

My dealer service said it was normal to experience this since I rarely get on it and the turbos were cleaning themselves out.

I find I am adding a quart about 1500 miles.

Flooring it every time you take off eliminates this problem

our dealer says that 1-1.5 quarts every 6-700 miles is not uncommon and is with in spec for that engine - Ours seems to be about 1-2 quarts every 3-5k miles, but it'd driven by my wife most the time so it's rarely in boost.

I was concerned about it because we had had the low oil indicator come on several times (when I was driving it a lot!) and they just said not to worry about it keep a quart of oil with me... =\

my 06 tts drinks oil like water too. i add 1 qt every 1000 miles. dealer also said it's normal along with my squeaky brakes and my temp gauges moves up and down between 180-220. i guess porsche can't let you have powerful truck with a peace of mind..always wants you to keep wondering. Damn porsche..but still love my truck tho.
