BOSE PCM and MOST ring Question + info on the new ebay PCM replacement out of china

As I hate the PCM, I am always keeping an eye out for a replacement that will not involve gutting everything bose. For me its not about audio fidelity, its about features and a GPS that does not have me twisting the stupid **** for an hour to enter an address.

About a month ago I started seeing this unit on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Golde...fAudioQ5fVideo

I actually think this is a nice looking unit compared to just a giant screen like the pioneers people have been swapping in.

I also found the unit from the link in the youtube video below: http://www.autodvdgps.com/porsche-ca...pms-p-555.html

So, I email the seller + one ebayer who bought one and here is the dialogue to date:

ME:

Does this work with the Cayennes bose amplifiers and MOST fiber system? Or do you have to bypass and run speaker wires direct to each speaker? I would be looking for a swap where I did not have to run new wires - a direct 1-1 replacement of the stock PCM unit

SELLER:

1.this unit support bose amplifiers system.
2.MOST fiber system?==>can not support most fiber
system
3.come with specail wires.don't need cut your
original car,support plug and play
regards!

- autoaudionet

ME:

Dear autoaudionet,

Wow - fast response thanks !

My understanding was that the Bose amps are connected in the MOST fiber ring. This means that if the amps get their signal from the fiber connection, the Golden unit would need to support the MOST connection. Is this correct or did I get this wrong?

Also I have a few more ??:

1. Does the UI look like this one here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUz2Y...eature=related

2. Does it require an adapter to use the volume and << >> steering wheel controls?

3. Do you have a closer picture of the cable adapters?

SELLER

===>Golden unit can not support Cayenne's fiber
ring bose system.
Only support Bose amp which don't have
Fiber ring.

Also I have a few more ??:
1. Does the UI look like this one here:

YU&feature=related ==>i see the video is for VW
2. Does it require an adapter to use the volume
and << >> steering wheel controls? ==>support
steering wheel control
3. Do you have a closer picture of the cable
adapters? ==>the adapter built-in dvd player,can
not see .

SO NOW MY ???

Are the bose amps in the cayenne off the MOST ring???

I'm willing to be the lab rat on this one, but only if I know the bose amps are "off ring"

any news regarding this PCM replacement?

Hi there,

I'm wondering if you already got some news regarding this PCM replacement.

I'm also sick and tired of my PCM 2.1 unit and now I'm looking into all the other options. This one seems easy and still looks good.

I did some searching on the website of autodvdgps.com and found the following pictures:

So far I'm 99.99% sure you have to disconnect it from the MOST loop, but you can do that with a MOST HUR available at NAVTV (not cheap, but yeah)

Does anybody already purchased this item? I'm curious to hear some user experiences.
