Going to try a Eurocharged tune
They're trying to get set-up down here in Houston, and I was actually inquiring about another vehicle when they told me the Cayenne was able to be tuned by them. I've had part-throttle issues with the Powerchip tune (pinging) under some circumstances and after already sending it back to get straightened out once, I gave up on more chances. The Powerchip has no issues at full throttle, however.
Anyway, I should have that back soon. They also have a flash tuner but I don't think I need that. Maybe if I have them do a custom tune or something. Right now I don't even have the Evoms air intake kit on, but was told the custom tune would get a little more out of that if I go down that road. More to come. I'm just trying an off the shelf tune first. At least support is just down the road.

Got it in this evening, but haven't had much time behind the wheel. Seems pretty smooth, less jerky coming on the boost and it definitely pegs the gauge like the Powerchip one did. Throttle is more sensitive as well, requiring less tip-in to get a bit better acceleration over stock.
Quick update. This tune is still much smoother than the Powerchip. I did have one "funny" with it over the weekend. On Sunday with a cold start in the morning (like 80 degrees here), the engine didn't do the usual high idle until it gets a little warm. Instead it dropped down to about 600 rpm and ran a bit rough until it warmed up a little. Other than that, nothing new. I will be getting it custom tuned this Saturday and put the Evoms Intake(s) back onto it. I will be sure to get a baseline with the bolt-ons and stock program for comaprison. Tuning will be done on a Mustang Dyno
Baseline: I like the approach. Damn near scientific, definitely technical.
What will be the variables? Which conditions ( mods)? And combinations?
Any earlier Dyno tests before your other mods?

Unfortunately I don't have any bone stock (or other) dyno runs. So the baseline will be with Fabspeed bypass pipes, IPD plenum, and Evoms intakes. The APR DVs shouldn't make any difference - just insurance for boost leaks. Variables should be limited. Temps will climb a bit but humidity should be somewhat stable. I'm thinking mid 80s temp, same for humidity. I'm basically at sea level here in Houston. I'll be sure to get some printouts to scan.
I do have some dragstrip runs but it's so hot now I'm not looking for any gains. If it runs the same as it did in the spring/fall then I'll know it's making some additional power.

Well all did not go as planned. I did get on the dyno but the guy tuning it had to email files in due to some other issues. So the tuning guy I worked with was on the phone giving info as we made runs. The bottom line is that I'm going to burn through this tank of gas and try another one. It would ping coming on the boost and the midrange, with the Evoms installed. I never noticed anything with the stock airboxes. No printouts since I'll have to return anyway. But the baseline was 372whp on a Mustang Dyno (uncorrected) with the stock program. As the signature states, I have the secondary cat bypass pipes, IPD plenum (y-pipe), Evoms intake kit, and APR DVs. We had a few runs in the low 400s at the wheel and once as high as 420whp. But you could see it pulling timing as we were never able to match the torque peak coming on the boost like the stock program. After about 7 pulls, we decided to punt. Thinking it might be a weird tank of gas we decided to burn it off and try again. Oddly enough I had some pinging issues with the Powerchip tune as well on occasion with the Evoms intake kit installed as well. Not sure what the exact issue is but we will try again soon. Just to be on the safe side I'm runnning around on the stock tune. I do plan to bring the airboxes with me to the next one, just in case.
OK a long overdue follow-up.
I finally got back on the dyno and the tuning went well. Either the gas around here isn't that great (I used Shell this time over Exxon, both 93 octane) and there will still some minor timing issues that had to be worked around. I specifically asked for a conservative tune with plenty of bottom end and it worked out well. Throttle response is very good and my mileage hasn't suffered any that I can tell. The boost is instantaneous and has no problems pegging the gauge. It does trail off up top, but even at the dragstrip I was able to manage 13.7s@102 in 94 degree heat with maybe 30 minutes cool down. The thing requires only moderate throttle to accelerate hard. Jerry with Eurocharged was the tuner and he was very professional and answered all of my questions during the process and also explained the changes he would make after each pull. Mine is boosting to about 14psi, tapering off to about 10.5 psi up top. I'm sure there is more in it, but I just prefer not boosting harder at the very top. Fueling is about 12.5:1 at first going to about 11.5:1 up top. Despite the dyno graph the pull is very smooth. I've had zero issues with it as far as check engine lights or anything like that. I did try the off-the-shelf tune for a while and I think it may have made a tad more peak hp but the low to mid range torque on this tune feels stronger.
A big thanks to the guys at Secret Services Auto in Houston for the dyno use and allowing me to see some other cars there for work (more than a few going for over 1000hp).

Forgot the graph. Evoms intake kit, IPD plenum, Fabspeed bypass pipes, and APR DVs are the other mods and were installed during the baseline run shown here as well as after the tuning. It was tuned in about 90 degree temps with over 80% humidity.
