Nav-TV or Dension - Please help

Hi, second post here, just joined.

I'm picking up a 2008 Cayenne S with PCM 2.1 and Bose system on Saturday.

Car does not have Bluetooth, Satellite Radio, or iPod. I want to add all three.

What do you recommend? I've read on the forum that Nav-TV or Desnion are the way to go. Are there drawbacks to them? Which has the best success?

I'd like it to be as OEM as possible.

Please help.

Thanks!

I would also consider mObridge many people prefer it over Nav-TV. What i have read over the past couple of days is Desnion allows you to keep your CD changer (if you have one) .

I have a mObridge unit and i am very happy with it.

Thanks Spinny. I'll look into the mObridge as well as the Dension Ice Link iPod Integration and Bluetoth Integration kits. Does anyone know if I can add XM or Sirius to this?

2nd on Dension. Navigating through the phonebook is a little clugey, but otherwise not a bad unit.

just replace the whole thing, you can get a after market system that is light years ahead of the PCM.

there is truth to this, but it won't look good. i'm for dension because it works pretty well with my pcm. the aftermarket double-din is a better option on non-pcm vehicles though.

I would do NavTV hands down... Mobridge and Dension are both great but NavtV has come a long way and it is bullet proof today...

I might have the bluetooth kit laying around still, if I do I will let ya know as I will part with it cheap

I know what you guys are saying. The Dension kit is not cheap, much less, the mobridge. The double-din route is actually very attractive and gives more bang-for-the-buck when it comes to ipod integration and bt. Honestly, I gave the double-din option a very long thought (and this is the route I took with my 996). But, I didn't like the way it looked when I saw the pics in the other forum. Looks kinda empty and I decided to keep the CTT as factory as it can be. I still stand by my opinion that, personally, I like the looks of the PCM much better & the factory Bose system sounded decent enough for me to keep it (I may add a JL Stealthbox & Alpine amp in the future), so I went the Dension route and kept the PCM. If my car is not equipped with the PCM, now that is a different story and I will definitely (and encourage everyone else in the non-PCM crowd) to go with the double-din route.

here is another route... taking the PCM, replacing the LCD with the Alpine touchscreen, converting the PCM's original display as an input into the Alpine so not to lose it. I used an Alpine Vhub on this back in 05.

Wow, great info guys! Thanks.

I have an issue now with the cd changer. I have BOSE, but no CD Changer. So with Dension, I would have to go to the dealer and get programming. IS this true with mObridge or NavTV?

Thanks.

I forget with the others as I have done a few, but with the navtv unit, I have had no problems if it did not have a changer from the factory.

What do you exactly mean? You have CD changer or no CD changer? Let's just say you have a CD changer. No, you don't have to go to a dealer to do any programming. The only programming you need to do is for the PCM display where you have to manually play with a switch on a certain sequence to get the display to show the ipod controls. If you need to switch between the CD changer and the iPod, it only takes one slide of a switch. Very simple. Take note that we do not have a Porsche dealer in my area. Me and my indy got the Dension to work flawlessly and this is our first install.
