I like my X5.. I think a 4.8is is a nice machine. .also its 25k less than a turbo. PLus CTT's depreciate like crazy! I almost bought one for 62k at the auction a few weeks ago..

I had a 4.6is and now own the CTT....I would go with the BMW.

The CTT has turbo lag, the trans shift pattern is slow and starts off in 2nd gear....

....also, try to fold down the rear seat on the CTT vs. the X5, the X5 has a power back seat that just flips down....the CTT you have to remove all 3 headrests, flip up the seat bottom, fold the seat down and then you can't move the driver seat back because it hit the folded seat botton....it's the old range rover design....what was porsche thinking?

Yep, I forgot about the heinous move the seat down routine. Maybe that explains why we only went through the ordeal once.

Arling, just got back from a snow filled weekend in Mammoth. I can tell you the Cayenne really shines in bad weather. It is very stable and never once did I feel a loss of control, even in two feet of snow.

I say, DON'T GET IT! I am cancelling my turbo order because first of all it is not worth another 50k to upgrade, secondly, I hear more complaints with the Turbo. My friend's car has 700 miles on it, and it says "SERVICE IN 1900 MILES". Not good Not good

My turbo has been light years better than my old S...both in reliability and fun factor...

Yes, ours did the same crap. They just reset the ECU so the truck stopped dinging her with that message (in between the "add oil" dinging).

I don't post often but i found this thread quite funny.

First of all, I had chance to test drive both. In terms of handling, stopping, and power the BMW 4.8is is no where NEAR the turbo. But of cuz there is always the money factor.

Seeing from what u are saying, obviously u can afford the car. In any situation with almost ANY turbo cars there is always some turbo lag. But SOOOO WHAT!?!? I doubt the few second of turbo lag will seriously be the cause of the reason why u should be having second thoughts about the car.

Look at the spec from Car & Driver. 13.5 in the 1/4 mile. That already does it for me. Is close to M3 performance.

Don't think of little things thats in front of u. Think things that is futher ahead. Think about the smile u are gonna have in ur face when the power comes on and u are able to keep up with some amazing sports car in a SUV. And being about the upgrade the power. There are always things to get rid of the turbo lag. For example, get a chip. If the chip allow the waste gate to open earlier then it should solve the problem already. I m not very familiar with Porsche turbo system, but in Japanese cars this is how we do it. With the addition of a better flowing exhaust it can help it too. And once u have those, ur power is up too compare to NA which gain so little.

Think about it. In the end, u wouldn't really regret. As for the power seats in the back. Yah it is fancy stuff. But fancy stuff is always good at one thing. It always causes problem. I don't care what u say or how u say it. My parents company's car is a 745IL and it just suck *** in terms of reliablility. The more electronic stuff u have, the more problem it is gonna cause. Yah though u are paying so much for such a car, but porsche is all about the performance and the prestige. If not u wouldn't be looking into the Porsche in the first place. And this is what Porsche does best.

i made my choice because there is nothing else i want out there in terms of SUV. nothing is perfect but i made the choice to the Turbo & i still have no second thought. i know if i went with the X5 4.8i i'd regret not getting the Turbo. i'm glad i made the right choice.

I don;t know why you find this thread so funny. I have mentioned I do not own a Turbo Cayenne several times.

I am not complaining about TURBO LAG...it is either transimission lag or very sloppy software that causes inaccurate shifts with dangerous dead zones...

Before buying a Cayenne, do a search on this problem on Rennlist. There is much more information on this problem there.

It is a HUGE documented problem.

Arling you know what I am talking about.,..

Tell the man...
