Insulated glass and light comfort package
Insulated glass and light comfort package
I've seen some discussions about pros and cons of the thermally insulated glass. Does anyone with the rear blinds one the options may be unnecessary? This is for consideration of kids, although we live in pretty mild climate.
Also, has anyone seen the light comfort package?
Thanks.

I have both (insulated glass and rear shades) on my CTT and they are great. The only con with the glass is that radar detectors inside no longer work well. So if you choose to have a radar detector you will need a K40 or 9500 unit.
Does your EZ Pass system function from the inside of the insulated glass? My dealer indicated that the toll collection sensor may not work.
I live in NY. The Ez-Pass works. There are only 2 places on the windshield that it can work. Above the rear view mirror, Porsche put a cutout of the material. So either side of the rear view mirror directly above it, the Ez Pass works. I use it 2 times a day and it has never failed at these 2 positions.

Great! I am awaiting the delivery of our Cayenne, and with the thermal insulating glass, was debating whether to order the license plate E-Z Pass or go with the interior unit. Bummer about the diminished sensitivity of the portable radar detector units.
OCNY: How is the noise cancellation effect on a scale of 1 to 10. I have a Burmester on order for my Cayenne S and am thinking about this glass for its noise cancellation property not necessarily for its heat cancellation. I am not a great fan of a very dark tint. How dark is the tint compared to the tint that comes standard.
I would say 8. You really can relax and enjoy the music with almost no road noise. As far as the darkness, it really is almost not noticable as a tint. The windshield, front driver/passenger is almost unnoticable.

What do you mean by that. Is it so dark that one cannot see who is inside ? Can you please elaborate.
That's what I understood it as but just wanted to be clear on that (no pun intended). Wow..that was totally contrary to my earlier belief. Just called my sales consultant and ordered it for my order. It is really a no-brainer for me as I don't have any radar detectors or EZ passes in the works for the future. My sales consultant also told me that it is a double paned glass and is noticeably quieter. Thank you for the replies guys and thank you Manmachine for this thread. It has sure helped me out.

So what level of tint is in the rear in terms of percentage transparency? In WA state I typically tint to legal 35% on my cars. With insulated windows, does that mean the front windows do not need to be tinted, or will the tint further help reduce UV and heat?
I'm hoping to have a more uniform look front and back.
Any comments on comfort light package?
